  • [ – ] EplxPro reply I use to work at a super market I know all the tricks. To keep people in the store. We had to tell people oh you might like something over in this section
  • WalkingForWeightLoss reply Interesting insights. I travel out of my SUV so I often eat out. When I go to stores, since I rarely have to, I feel like I'm on another planet.
  • [ – ] November_Fox reply Don't get Budweiser or that Guinness above your shoulder.
  • [ – ] MrJoelDee reply I never thought about there being no windows and clocks before. Most markets here in the U.S. have windows at the front of the store, but usually nowhere else.
  • [ – ] JustABloke reply I miss the old butcher stores on the corner, where in front of you they prepare the cut you ask for. Big chain stores have done the research and know how to make customers buy things they don't really need.
  • Flying_Purple_Pizzas reply So much of our food is manufactured nowadays. Manufacturing tends to take out the good stuff and put in the bad stuff. Most of what supermarkets sell is not technically food anymore. But as long as it tastes okay, we'll all continue to eat it and wonder why our health isn't so good. A business exists to make as much money as possible. The bigger the business, the more the focus on money over other concerns. Tricking the consumer into buying more is a time-honored tradition. Thank you for exposing some of these tricks. Well done!
  • [ – ] LaurenVideon reply In Australia the major supermarkets have changed their home brand ranges to resemble big brand products, or at least have fancied up the packaging to encourage people to buy, and increased the prices. More people that choose their versions, the more money goes direct to the supermarket. Have you experienced a similar thing overseas?
  • [ – ] Calibri_Funtimes reply Ahhh the supermarket. The place where my paycheck goes to die. The sneaky tricks I've also seen in the stores around here are to put samples at the head of the aisles which typically house expensive items, like fancy olive oils or meat products. Bait and catch.
    • Y2JayDoesAsia parent reply I forgot tp put into the video the trick where they put all the expensive items at eye level and the cheap stuff down low or up high
  • [ – ] HamishW reply Filmed a vlog at Countdown and got asked to leave "because they down allow cameras". Did anyone say anything while you were filming at Pak n Save?
    • Y2JayDoesAsia parent reply No but I thought that might happen because I saw your supermarket video. So I did the whole thing on the cellphone and I kept each camera shot less than 30 seconds. Some of the staff did look at me but none of them said anything. They don't get paid enough to bother customers making cellphone videos, LOL
