I decided Vidme might wanna see my earliest efforts, since some of my older works on here have surpassed the viewership they've had on youtube.
Quixotic - (a bad trip)
"That was the fatal flaw in Tim Leary's trip. He crashed around America selling "consciousness expansion" without ever giving a thought to the grim meat-hook realities that were lying in wait for all the people who took him seriously... All those pathetically eager acid freaks who thought they could buy Peace and Understanding for three bucks a hit. But their loss and failure is ours too. What Leary took down with him was the central illusion of a whole life-style that he helped create... a generation of permanent cripples, failed seekers, who never understood the essential old-mystic fallacy of the Acid Culture: the desperate assumption that somebody... or at least some force - is tending the light at the end of the tunnel."
Has the Terrance McKenna/Timothy Leary style of nuttery and new age rhetoric spawned a grimace within you? Or have you been the misanthrope with a hatred for all over the actions of a few? Imagine if a youthful silly misanthropy was challenged by an ACTUAL horror. Imagine if mushrooms could communicate with your fucking subconscious... and how that might not be all daisies and tulips; and that one could indeed open doors to 'new worlds' just by doing drugs... far reaching but I have sat in circles with some who would have you believe this and more.
Quixotic was a concept art piece intended to toy with a lot of these ideas with love to the wonderful people I was associated with at the time. It was drawn in ink and painted during the course of an acid venture. It was an expression of various ideas and silliness made manifest as a way of throwing my early self to the wolves before tackling more worldly issues.
Join me on my old acid trip as I throw Maynard Staly into the void- through sub-cultural walls, further through his own worst nightmares, then into a sort of battlefield were none of that nor he means dick! Were his insignificance can be utilised by other worldly characters inspiring an eventual personal significance. And were his only guide is a sociopathic feline creature with his own agenda and the only thing he has to look forward to is a paradoxical love interest which might as well be nothing more than a wank bank to him at first- just given oh so much pretence! What is hallucination and what is universal travel AGH the insanity... or tedium whichever you please.
As long as you watch this piece with a willingness to mock New Age mentality, Religious ideas in all forms and indeed are familiar with people trying to ram a head shop bastardised Hare Krishna ideology down your throat, you will find it as intended... just... fucking... funny.
*Never... trust... the feline!!! He speaks in tongues and vitriolic metaphors and always has his own interests at heart. You'll get lost in his bullshit if you don't concentrate on what he is actually doing. This character does grow somewhat as the Saprotrophic series progresses.
*Maynard is an accentuation and a parody and not specifically myself but more like "Insert random human element might as well be like myself"
*Pheeliks is actually quite lovely and is the most genuine person you could meet.
I hope you enjoy this piece and forgive the quality of it even after remastering. There is no way of making 480p visual alpha channels expand to a 720p without some shitty distortion. I only saw this when I upgraded my monitor to a large ass TV, finally focused on some of the work I've done (as well as can be expected with my shitty eyesight) and saw the occasional lack of shading, cocked polygon or wrongly overlapping cell. It's a process. The first version of this was quite literally a moving comic book as seen in some of the sketches I have uploaded.
Lemme know what you think, comment below.
The continuation of this series: "Prosaic" 1-4 and "Chaotic" are on …
