Why not then turn back to the hard truth of things?
Er—I mean—Happy Summer!
This is getting posted a bit late, but it's actually still pretty much on time. I wrote this—the earliest form of this—on June 22 in Lowell at Brew'd Awakening. It's also the first poem I read at my first-ever open mic that December. (It's also a shameless attempt at trying to write sorta like Wallace Stevens.)
It's ALSO in my first chapbook (an ebook called “The Long Contraction”) and in my first PRINT collection, the chapbook “Shaking the Wind” (info for both below). And it's my self-published submission for the Best of the Net.
Still relegated for the moment to iMovie, and it putzed things up here—and yet this turned out pretty damn well, considering... It at least works. I also like the lack of background noise in this case. I may redo this one in the near future.
