Hadvar and I continued down the ever narrowing hallways and into caves, and finally into possible sewer systems allowing me to try own my warhammer. It made fast work of the archer's skulls. I took their bows and arrows for myself.
Then, we found ourselves face to face with a completely unexpected spider's nest. Not like tiny, tiny spiders, but rather large Frostbite Spiders. They were a good use of my bow, and I killed almost all of them, one-shot, unseen even, though alas some were able to spit poison at me before I could stop them. I am not entirely unfamiliar with weapon usage. And after that we came across yet another beast in the form of a bear, which Hadvar suggested we sneak by. But I'm not interested in dallying around. I stayed sneaking and gave a critical hit to the bear, and a second had it dead. Hadvar was ammused by my choice.
Finally, we had reached the end of the cave and it opened out into a wide and free Skyrim, snow freshly coated the ground and pine trees. Hadvar suggested we go our own ways but also that we meet elsewhere to discuss the dragon. It had appeared to have left. We only saw each other one more time, by accident, while I picked off a small pack of wolves that diverged on his path. I suppose I saved him, but he probably had things figured out for himself.
This dragon can keep Helgen for now, for all I care. I want a drink.
