  • [ – ] AmandaFood reply I'm always hungry :/ the DIY drink one seems pretty neat. This box comes with a lot of stuff. I'm not a huge fan of coconut either but those sticks sound like they taste good. (I want those nutter butter cookie like ones)
    • [ – ] theoldsparrow parent reply I'm slowly becoming less and less of a fan of DIY snacks. I always seem to mess them up somehow. :/ Well this one seems pretty easy as long as I follow the recipe. With the pineapple cookies I ate the rest of them right after the recording. Really solved my sweet craving. :D
  • Anonymous_Gamer reply @Vidav94 you might like the Tokyo surprise box! Great vid man @theoldsparrow
  • [ – ] outofcontroltim reply Very cool video
  • [ – ] MarzieMalfoy reply Nice! Mine should be here soon! I'm really looking forward to the pokemon chocolate puffs! :)
  • [ – ] TheBrewMonks reply This kit is jam packed! Japanese snacks are the BEST!! Umaibo FTW.
  • [ – ] TechSway reply I've actually thought about getting one of these boxes recently as I love the randomness of them. Good video btw.
    • theoldsparrow parent reply There's a few tiers but I think the premium box is the best deal for the type and number of snacks you get. There's definitely a good variety. Thank you. :D
  • RetroBit reply I've been practicing Japanese for a little while now and while I can read / write Hiragana & Katakana alright, Kanji is by far the most difficult thing there is to learn (Can't read ANY of it). GG w. the translating @theoldsparrow :-D My Japan Crate (Different Sub box, same deal) got held up in the mail this month so I'm living vicariously through you right now! ;-D
  • [ – ] Brew_Monk_Trubling reply Everytime I see Tokyo Treat I think of Dagashi Kashi... Going to have to get myself a box of that at some point in the future lol.
    • [ – ] theoldsparrow parent reply Such a fun anime. Kokonutsu's dad is funny but definitely shorted on appearances in the show. The snacks in the dagashi packs are exactly what you would find in their store. Those life saver looking candies are exactly the whistle candy featured in the show. Also they taste like the sweetest lemonade.
      • Brew_Monk_Trubling parent reply He was my favoirte character in that whole show! (Favorite scene was when he was doing a youtube channel lol Freaking amazing!) The whistle candy had a great little joke story as well lol with one of the candy not being able to whistle and was even better when the "cop/teacher" was Kokonotsu's father. Also that is amazing, will have to try that candy at some point!
  • [ – ] FrenchWolf reply I liked that, 1st time i hear about those snacks box. Are they expensive? If i may ask, for your next box id like some close-up of the treats and their packagingb im a really curious person XD, thanks for sharing.
    • theoldsparrow parent reply They're pretty reasonably priced for what you get and especially with the shipping included. From Japan to the US I ordered a box of snacks and the cheapest shipping was about $17. The subscription is $35 a month including shipping so it's quite a bargain.
  • KaiserSpass reply oh i really want to try some of those Japanese treats so maybe i should get that box if i even can
  • [ – ] LadyK reply I love ❀️FOOD!!! Thanks for sharing. I've never heard of Tokyo Treat.
  • [ – ] therunningrebel reply Oooh looks like you got some pretty interesting stuff! The PokΓ©mon box was super neat looking! Those pineapple cookies sound amazing! I love cookies and I love pineapple, so putting the two together sounds fantastic! I'm not gonna pretend I know anything about the Japanese language or anything like that, because I most certainly do not, but I'm super impressed with your reading/translation skills! That's some pretty awesome stuff, if you ask me!!
    • theoldsparrow parent reply The Pineapple cookies were my favorite. With the Pikachu puffs I think eating them with milk like cereal would be the best bet. I still don't know what the flavor packet that came with that tastes like but maybe it will flavor the milk or something. Studying Japanese is a hobby of mine. You can go a long way with learning the two basic alphabets and then it's like climbing the mountain of learning the harder "alphabet" called kanji. Still it is very rewarding and I'm enjoying learning everyday.
  • [ – ] BrianAiya reply OUUUU!!! Japanese snacks! We have Asian markets here, but it's rare to find Japanese snacks. >.< I want to taste them! I see you reading the package. What is your level in Japanese language? Are you still learning?
    • theoldsparrow parent reply They are tasty and much more varied in flavor than the staple snacks you can get in the US. The idea of a pineapple cookie would baffle and make dismissive of a Nestle' or Lay's executive. My level in Japanese is that I have a good grasp on the kana, not perfect but good, and know some of the kanji. In standardized test terms I have a shot at passing the JLPT level 5. It's not impressive by any means. It is satisfying though when I can read the words and recognize the kanji. It makes all the hours of study worth it and snack packages help reinforce and introduce old and new words. By the way thank you for suggesting that I try the snacks last unboxing. It did affect the run time but adds that missing element of a deeper explanation of the flavors.
  • [ – ] SamEarl13 reply Those boxes definitely seem to have crazy variety to them, pretty impressive how they're still sticking to a theme too. I think only one of them sounded weird (although I'd probably like it anyway lol).
    • [ – ] theoldsparrow parent reply The variety is great. :D Which one sounded weird to you?
      • [ – ] SamEarl13 parent reply The Sour 'Blue Raspberry' thing, I definitely don't see things like that around here (although there definitely used to be).
        • theoldsparrow parent reply It tasted like a combination of a fizzy candy and a Sour Warhead. I used to LOVE Sour Warheads as a kid so that particular candy was right up my alley. If you like sour it would not disappoint.
  • [ – ] Flying_Purple_Pizzas reply That was a lot of variety! It looks like fun tasting all of the crazy flavors. You were very thorough in your descriptions. I pretty much would have enjoyed it all, except maybe the rice cake one. Thanks for sharing!
    • theoldsparrow parent reply Thank you for the thoughtful reply. One of the things I love about this subscription is that it's all kinds of snacks so when I'm craving something savory it's in there. When I want something chocolatey it's in there too. When I want something fruity that's also in the box. It really is good all around.
  • [ – ] MFKraven reply haha im loving how you're just pronouncing everything and just get it, it's so impressive to me the sour blueberry mint awuwawawa thing looks like it would be my favorite. Coconut is also my fave, well in candy form. great video! i fucking love these treat videos
    • theoldsparrow parent reply Thanks bro. I'm still learning and sometimes as you see in this video I even still get the very basic characters confused. I'm trying hard to learn but when I'm able to read new "squiggly marks" it is very satisfying. Half the fun for me is to be able to understand what the snack is before I even eat it.
  • [ – ] lambdog76 reply do you have a vid on how you got into the tokyo treat mailer?
    • theoldsparrow parent reply It's simple enough that I can explain it in a comment. I was spending a good chunk of change on snacks from J-List a month. I knew there was subscription services out there for snacks so I looked into a Japanese one with a google search and the cost benefit favored Tokyo Treat the most. Also it's very cheap to buy a box in between monthly boxes and get them shipped. I'm probably saving over half what I was paying on J-List on those boxes I pick out all the snack myself.
  • [ – ] AsKaGangsta reply watching now :)
  • arrghgarry reply did a youtuber send that/
