  • [ – ] HornyTony reply Its about entertaining not how hard a video is to produce or if it has a message or something
    • CJwoodruff parent reply If you like the content, keep upvoting the shit. For me, I find it lacking any substance, story line, or quality... and for me and the majority of folks that = bad content. But its all subjective
  • [ – ] CrazyRocky reply Thanks for the response man, I always am playing a character on my channel unless I say otherwise. My character is ruthless and says whatever he wants to say and people have debated whether that's right or wrong for a long time but I dont care. If people dont like how I present my message that is perfectly fine, but you're right my overall point is that I've seen the lack of quality drive people away. I have also seen the lack of quality discourage animators and other people who work for hours on their video. Lastly I don't understand why people think giving an opinion means I am asking for people to be censored. Just because I say, hey look this channel's content is garbage doesn't mean I am saying to remove or censor them, I'm just saying hey look at this terrible content
    • CJwoodruff parent reply I personal appreciate your opinion and that of others. Keep speaking your mind homie, that's how we grow and evolve. I plan to do the same
  • [ – ] EplxProductions reply Who cares if its high or low quality. We all don't have the resources to do everything all in high quality. I may not all of the content on here but...if you don't like it don't watch it.
    • CJwoodruff parent reply You are not fully understanding what my message was. I think every person high quality or not has the right to post on a platform like this. I also love to see all diversity of content... but there is a reason we see higher quality movies make it to the box office vs lower quality ones. It's not that lower quality or cheaper budget ones are not great... it's that we as a collective whole want to see things improve and evolve. My point on this is that the folks that do spend the money, take the time, and really put intent into their content should be the ones trending. I appreciate everyone on here and every platform playing the game... but just because you play doesn't mean you deserve a first place fucking trophy. If you disagree with that I am sorry, but that's my 2 cents
  • [ – ] SurfersSelfies reply good video mate :) nice to hear how u feel about the whole thing. btw i hope my channel isnt one of those non creative ones lol
    • [ – ] CJwoodruff parent reply Bro you're one of the best channels I have had the pleasure of following here on Vidme. When I first came over I was looking for good vloggers, and you're one of the first I came across. I think of you as one of the top high quality creators here dude.
      • [ – ] SurfersSelfies parent reply thanks man thats great ahhaha. when ever i watch a video like this im thinking ohh fuck is it me am i the one whos not making great content :S ahahhah
        • [ – ] CJwoodruff parent reply That's what probably helps to make your content above and beyond. A little anxiety sometimes is a good motivator to produce your best.... IMO anyway :)
          • [ – ] SurfersSelfies parent reply ahahah totally lol but tbh i wouldn't really give a shit if people hated my work. but if i have fun then thats all that matters
            • [ – ] CJwoodruff parent reply I guess that's a good prospective. For me I want to take feedback as mature as possible and adapt to what other viewers are saying. You're a solid dude though with a strong mindset. I'm just trying to get to your level man
              • SurfersSelfies parent reply what i do is find out what makes other people special and change it to make it my own. i have a look at more of ur vids and help u out if u like :)
        • [ – ] WalkingForWeightLoss parent reply @SurfersSelfies Even if your channel is not groundbreaking in innovation, I respect your channel nonetheless because it consists of original content - instead of being one of those channels riding off the coattails of other creators work. Then again I may be a hypocrite since on YouTube I watch channels like Cinema Sins and WatchMojo - but at least they offer a unique take on their use of stuff created by other people. The channel No Small Parts (very underrated) about not-so-famous character actors in Hollywood is a great example of a creator bringing total originality to a project comprised of a lot of footage create by other people. Like you I vlog, and the more vids I make, the more I challenge myself to make my videos more fun to watch though use of wit and incorporation of trends in a way that makes sense. Hopefully a compelling personality and old-fashioned story telling still go a long way.
    • AxxL_Afriku parent reply Don't turn on me!
  • [ – ] WalkingForWeightLoss reply Hi CJwoodruff. Quality is subjective. I am a 1-person crew on a limited income so I do my best. Video creators have to do the same work that any personality in Hollywood would have a team of 5-10 helping them with. "A higher standard" for creators doesn't just happen over night. It's an evolution process if the creator is genuinely a person starting out from home and making do with what they have. Not to mention, creators have to find the balance between work/school/kids, etc... To improve the viewership experience, I've suggested to Vidme leadership that they create two different types of accounts: a viewer/commenter account and a creator account. I've also suggested Vidme create a system of hierarchy labeling either by Vidme's team or the community. Hierarchy labeling such as "Just Starting Out," "Amateur," "Advanced," "Superstar" or something like that. I've also suggested they create a page on Vidme spotlighting creators by doing interviews about their channel. They could even o...moreutsource this work to creators by bartering. Example, a day on spotlight in exchange for an article. I also think Vidme needs to relocate their forum from Reddit to this site. And I think they should create a page similar to the Craigslist gigs page to enable creators to easily find others to collaborate with. Vidme is located in Los Angeles and they got an investment of millions. Putting 2 and 2 together, they ought to be able to scout quality content creators. Considering nearly every other video venue is getting into the original programming game, I think it would make sense for them to do that too. But still - where do the everyday people who are just getting started trying their best with limited resources as a 1-person crew fit in here or at any other video venue? That's why, again, I think hierarchy labeling would be helpful. Back to the idea that quality is subjective. Most of the creators who land on the trending page on YouTube who appear to be everyday people filming at home are often creators who are contracted with some Hollywood production company equipped with publicity generating resources. The few home-movie vids that land on trending tend to be ones that win the lottery of luck by getting featured on the nonsense page of some "news" site. And most of those videos end up being bought out - that's why you often see notes about licensing in those video descriptions. I too wish there was more engaging content to watch here. I seem to find: -videos about Vidme -people talking while playing a video game -channels that are more or less compilations of content not created by the channel owner -tons of reports of copyrighted music videos and TV show clips -the YouTube political commentators migrating over due to Adpocolypse I think the responsibility to lure in and invest in quality content creators lies primarily on the Vidme leadership team.
    • ColeossalGaming parent reply This. I like this.
    • [ – ] CJwoodruff parent reply Stellar comment man, and a much more in depth prospective. Thank you for that... and I have to say now looking at it from that prospective I agree. Vidme has some evolving to do, and you're right, the leadership needs to be there. I'm going to keep hustling to make better quality content either way, but let's hope the powers above have a similar initiative.
• [ – ] WalkingForWeightLoss parent reply Thanks. What city/region are you in? Also what is your dream as a video creator? I am in the L.A. area. My dream would be to be someone like Tyler Perry who has a production studio and the ability to manifest whatever type of entertainment he wants to create. I have a mind full of great ideas but as a 1-person crew with little money it's an uphill battle. I recently found some other amateur-level folks in L.A. to create a web series with but due to their lack of follow though we only shot episode 1. It's hard to get commitment from collaborators when no one is getting paid. Which brings me to another idea I've submitted to Vidme's leadership team: if they can, it would be super helpful to create a revenue sharing options from tips/subscriptions among collaborators. As far as I know, Veimo and YouTube don't offer this so if Vidme did that would enable more creators to unite as collaborators and more easily ensure all participants are compensated - albeit in a commission-based ...moresort of way. Still, that does not solve the lack of initial funding from the start. Should Vidme be like YouTube and invest financially in top creators or hold auditions to find ones showing potential to invest in? I think so. What do you think? If you look at the reports about Viemo and their job board, it's clear they're going to be investing in original content creators too. Like it or not, all of us are competing with big Hollywod one way or another. And that in mind, I agree with you that there's a lack of quality channels here and that will likely need to be improved for Vidme to thrive.
        • [ – ] CJwoodruff parent reply Oh and I live in Austin Texas currently. I have been to LA several times. I work with a modeling agency that has an LA branch. I also used to be in the military and was training out near there
          • WalkingForWeightLoss parent reply Agreed. I don't like living in a world where people like the Kardashians are famous but it is what it is and me not liking it won't matter any. If I was part of Vidme's leadership team I'd be reaching out to the YouTubers who are complaining their unhappy there as well as former contestants of America's Got Talent and the pool of talent they must be surrounded by in L.A. and trying to make exclusive deals. Seems like courting a channel like H3h3 would be a top goal of theirs since they complain about YT a lot. At the very least I'd waive the 50 follower limit for any creator migrating over from YouTube who has a following of at least 5k since they've already demonstrated an ability to grow an audience and putting up the 3G upload limit to new creators would be an irritation. Look at Hulu and Netflix - both like to flaunt their exclusives. I've debated another creator here on Vidme about their seeming hostility to YouTubers. That person's complaint was that they don't seem to en...moregage in the community. To that I replied that it's up to fans to build up or ignore channels where creators who don't make some effort to reply to comments. On YouTube, if the creator does not reply to comments, I don't bother with the channel more often that not (with a few guilty pleasure exceptions). But what kinds of YouTubers should Vidme try to nurture here? A lot of those migrating from YouTube seem to be political channels or people who keep getting copyright strikes on YT. Well, my former channel on YouTube was political but my channel here on Vidme is not. If this platform and my channel ever advance to a point of being able to attract product placement options, I doubt those advertisers will want to invest here if the video pages are dominated by political content or copyright violators (like freebooting reaction channels). Interestingly enough, when you read Vidme's TOS and Community Rules pages, it's not too different from YouTube's regarding what type of content is and isn't ok here.
        • CJwoodruff parent reply I think a ton of folks here on Vidme are focusing on "not becoming like youtube" and being fearful of "YouTubers" coming over. Truth be told YouTube is YouTube for a reason... google knows what the hell they are doing, and us complaining about "being like youtube" is ridiculous. I think any evolution by Vidme to invest in their creators is a good idea. Like YouTube or not... the platform should be growing and evolving
  • [ – ] JustABloke reply "The content and quality of videos here on VidMe needs to be in check." Oh this is going to go down well, censorship based on what @CJwoodruff thinks others should or should not see. Isn't there already another platform that does this, oh yes, YouTube. The only person I see thats getting their Butt Hurt is you 😜 Neither you or @CrazyRocky has the right to tell me what to watch.
    • [ – ] CJwoodruff parent reply Here we go... "cencorship" lmao. Give me a break, at no point in this entire thing did I suggest censorship. Rather I encourage the @AxxL_Afriku creators to keep doing their thing.... but I find it frustrating that click bait none substance content is rewarded. You want to produce content thats 2 mins of mumbling... ok dude thats fucking awesome. But should it be rewarded by trending?? In my opinion fuck no. I don't want to censor AxxL, I'm just suggesting he shouldn't be considered a top creator in a pool of creators that take this much more seriously. But hey, all this is subjective... I said that in my video. At the end of the day I am giving my 2 cents and opinion. If you don't like it, you can choose to fuck off. If I don't like AxxL's I can choose to fuck off.
      • [ – ] AxxL_Afriku parent reply If people want to see something different, they come to me, the G.O.A.T.
        • [ – ] CJwoodruff parent reply Awe did I get little AxxL's attention :) It's funny how people call themselves the greatest, but can't actually back it up. All we have to do is repeat how amazing we are thousands of times and people start to buy what we're selling. Well I would rather show people I'm great by working my tail off to produce legitimate content with plenty of substance. But you keep it up dude, you're the fucking man! lol
    • ColeossalGaming parent reply See, it's normally when someone says. "Something about you being butthurt and not me cause I'm super proud and on the internet" That they are indeed butt hurt. If you weren't. You wouldn't have commented or @crazyrocky either. Just trying to start some shit
    • [ – ] CrazyRocky parent reply Nobody is saying to cancel Axxl's channel or atleast I'm not, just because I give an opinion about a channel doesnt mean I'm telling people "You can't watch that" it just means I don't like that channel.
      • [ – ] JustABloke parent reply Your opinion (it's in the title) has made @CJwoodruff come to the conclusion that content and quality needs to be in check. I have no idea why you brought @AxxL_Afriku channel into this, it was never mentioned at all with regards to this video.
        • AxxL_Afriku parent reply I was mentioned when he talked about paper masks. But Rocky is talking about Axxl, not me, AxxL.
        • [ – ] CrazyRocky parent reply You said that don't have the right to tell you what to watch and this video was in response to my video which was about Axxl. My point here (please stop avoiding the point) doesn't have to do with Axxl. What I'm saying is just because I dont like someone's content doesnt mean im saying to censor or delete them, it just means I think their content is terrible and its my right to speak up about that. No one is telling you what you can or can not watch
          • [ – ] JustABloke parent reply Please tell me what the point is. This video is NOT about you, if I wanted to talk about your video I would've commented on your video. This video is about what @CJwoodruff wants VidMe to do based on your opinion. Please watch the video again, listen carefully you will find he talks about more than just one channel.
            • [ – ] CrazyRocky parent reply Then why did you @ me when you said and I quote "Neither you or @CrazyRocky has the right to tell me what to watch." Now I am here asking an EXTREMELY simple question. How did I tell you what to or what not to watch? Again the answer is simple I didn't. Now if you are just going to yet again avoid the point simply because you don't want to admit you are wrong, just don't reply.
              • [ – ] JustABloke parent reply You are responsible for what you say, but also for what you do not say.
                • CrazyRocky parent reply And? Martin Luther King also had many issues and not everything he said was correct. I am not responsible for those that misinterpret my words. Thats the start of how people get censored, people get silenced because of the way othera react to what someone has to say
                • [ – ] CrazyRocky parent reply No that's SJW shenanigans get outta here sounds like you are the one who is for censorship
  • [ – ] Kentantino reply why the hell this is not in trending? following you XD #drammabless
  • TapeMan reply good my MASK is made out of Tape and not paper...
  • [ – ] AxxL_Afriku reply You say it's gargabe, others enjoy it. So what? This is my yard.
    • [ – ] CJwoodruff parent reply You're right a bunch of people enjoy your content... and for now this is your yard. But I'm about to take if from you. Hold on tight bud
  • [ – ] Cellblock776 reply I'm one of those low quality content guys. I don't invest a lot of time or effort into my videos because they are really often just a place for me to vlog and share to a few family and friends. I use it similar to how some people use Periscope or Facebook Streaming. I will sometimes do political commentaries or rants but nothing with any fancy edits or software involved. I'm not a big fan of the Youtube "community" and don't follow most of the more well known channels there and haven't really gotten into much of the "community" here. I work 12 hours a day and don't have the time, money or interest in trying to grow a fan base or become popular on social media.
    • CJwoodruff parent reply Then keep doing what you're doing! I think it's awesome anyone that produces any kind of content. Keep producing! But shouldn't the more invested channels and creators be the more trending? I'm not suggesting people not producing whatever content they see fit. Just saying we should elect for higher quality when it comes to our top trending folks
  • [ – ] Modified_Adventure reply Great explanation mate. I put in a lot of time on my content but it doesn't bother me if others don't. I've only been on Vidme a very short time and still feeling my what around. I'll check more of your context out.
    • CJwoodruff parent reply Same here, hope you stick around. I'm doing both youtube and Vidme but plan to keep at this Vidme thing
  • ColeossalGaming reply Good, I don't have to make a video talking about it. I don't give a damn about calling out shit people who are getting trending from shit. People don't have to try to get to trending if they slap something about vidme on the title. It's a shame. I'm going to start branching out my content. But it kills me, when someone probably tossed together a video in 30 minutes, shooting and post, and then a lot of us put our hearts into it, 8 hours into one video. and don't get anything. But I fully agree with you in this man. Glad I found you. Have a podcasty voice, it's easy to listen to and smooth. Was nice to listen to while I did my daily round. Also nice tat. Hyped for your channel lol.
  • [ – ] umbysworld reply Yes... I see the motorcycle... there it is... yup... that's a motorcycle. :P
    • [ – ] CJwoodruff parent reply Hating on my background?! ;). Basic filming, have some good framing. Just trying to be conscious of my quality and content. Even without any true post edits
