Actress, and one of the co-stars of #TheFastAndTheFurious franchise, #MichelleRodriguez went to Instagram to voice her complaints about the roles of women in the series of films.
The Fast and the Furious franchise has been celebrated for its racial and gender diversity, but allowing different looking actors and actresses is just the tip of the diversity iceberg in Hollywood. While women have been in somewhat key roles since the franchise's beginning, they've largely been there as background characters or in the foreground with little to no agency of their own. How does the Fast franchise address this issue? More women in the cast, expand the roles of the women who are already there? Let us know how you'd fix it, or if you think there is even an issue to begin with, why or why not?
The film franchise has come a long way from The Fast and the Furious to low points like Tokyo Drift, and its resurgence with Fast Five. Its about to reach its ninth film, and while its done a lot of things correctly, this might be one of its most glaring from a behind the scenes standpoint.
