While on our way home from our family road trip, we heard about the cool caves in Florida, so we wanted to take our kids inside a cave. We took a cave tour at the Florida Caverns State Park.
The tours can fill up, so make sure you get there early, or at a time when there are not as many people taking the tour. We caught a 2:00 tour, and it was one of the smaller tours.
The state park ranger, Ethan, did a great job showcasing everything that this cave had to offer. He know a lot of the fun facts and history surrounding this particular cave. As we were exiting the cave, we got to talk to him one on one, and he told us that there are many more wild caves on this property.
To start this cave dive, we went through the door and down the ramps and stairs to go underground. We saw everything from stalagmites and stalactites to cave bacon and cave straws. They had a few unique rooms and artifacts in this cave including:
1. Wedding Room
2. Christmas Room
3. The Rock with Many Names
4. Experiencing total Darkness
5. Donald Duck
6. Tall Man's Torture, Short Man's Revenge
I've always wanted to try spelunking by myself or with a small group. The closest I've ever got was by doing tours like this. Have you ever been spelunking before?
