  • [ – ] USUandS reply I'm ashamed. Mostly because I found you through Rawman when i first got to Vidme and I forgot to follow, but AmandaFood's video reminded me and now I'm here. Ashamed. But with that aside, great poem Marzie. I enjoyed it because it hit me right where the feels are.

  • [ – ] Flying_Purple_Pizzas reply This was very much the way I felt as a teen. My feelings were very dark. I didn't feel I had permission to just be myself and the strain of trying to please others and fit in with the structures of society while feeling run over by everyone was too much. I have come a long way since then. A lot of our emotional problems seem to come from people taking advantage of us, especially when we are young. At the time we have no good way to have our say, to really communicate our feelings to those that abuse us. So that response gets stuck inside of us - the anger, terror, sadness, etc. It didn't get released. So it claws away at us from the inside. But there is a safe way to let it out and dissipate much of the pressure. I've mentioned this before a few times elsewhere, but this has helped me a lot recently: Find some time when you can be alone and you will not disturb anyone if your yell a bit. Picture someone who really angered you, abused you, saddened you, or hurt you. See them physicall...morey in the room with you. Know that they cannot speak or move. You have all the power. Now tell them all the things you never got to say. You can yell, swear, threaten, or anything else that feels right. The idea is to get the emotions out. Really know that this person can hear you and understand what you are saying. At this point it's not about them, but about you getting your say. It doesn't have to take long. You'll know when you've said enough. A variation of this is to go back in your mind to the point of the original event and do it over, but your way. See yourself with incredible power and ability. Make the event go your way this time. Speak what you want to say. Force others to your will. You are the god. You can do anything and you give yourself permission to do anything. Nobody really gets hurt. The purpose is communication of your feelings. Both of these can be done with a supportive listener as well, just someone who watches and supports by being there. These exercises have worked well for my wife and I. Our minds don't differentiate between the imaginary and the "real" very well, so to the mind, the new version can somewhat replace the original one, at least enough to create healing. We don't have to carry so much pain all the time. There are ways to release it safely. We just aren't taught them. You are a survivor! Not everyone can claim that. It can get better. Thanks for sharing your inner world with us!
    • [ – ] MarzieMalfoy parent reply This was very beautiful! These words are the best words I've ever read that describes what I go through and what I know others go through. And a great way to cope. That's why I have to live alone and not in an apartment. So I can scream at the top of my lungs to get that anger out like you described. Thank you! And thank you so much for the tip. With your permission, may I read the middle part of this comment one night? It's just so perfect. It's okay if you say no, though lol
  • [ – ] Aaronshy reply Decided to watch this while also looking up backwards songs on YouTube. This is somehow more fun to watch than those. LOL.
