  • ClimatePonziLie reply Wind or Solar power plant are part of a Ponzi Scheme, they need to rely on conventional coal power to make up the power supply when they don't. This fact that solar and wind are really a redundancy of the reliably of coal as our primary energy source. With either wind or solar your can't schedule a time that they will be running at peak efficiency or sitting idle. These Wind and Solar farms drive up the cost of the conventional power because the coal plant only collects the full cost of it's construction money when the other sources fail, making the initial capital cost of the coal fired plant take longer to be realized, as the coal plant built for the entire load. The cost of the redundant solar and wind should therefore pay a penalty for their lack of security to provide power as part of their cost.
  • ClimatePonziLie reply Simple logic and math show that Solar Panels are not going to replace Coal as our energy source. Areal Density of solar energy measured in Watts/ SQ meter. Would that be on a roof that can adjust to the right azimuth angle every day of the year and tracks the sun all day long. Some sites give the amounts between 150 to 200 Watts / SQ meter. To power a 1500W microwave oven in peak sunlight would require 10 SQ meters. There is talk of power storage with batteries are not 100% efficient and they need to be kept heated, vented and Replaced and disposed of safely. If you want to go Solar you will need to store a minimum of 2/3 of the energy produced in the day to power the night. Every time a power source needs to rely on the coal power then it is increasing the cost of the coal power as it is increasing the total cost of the electrical system for everyone. The best current solar power could do is reduce current peak power demand, too bad that doesn't occur in the middle of the day when th...moree sun is at it's highest.
  • ClimatePonziLie reply I will try to explain the problem with wind generation with a analogy. A farmer has 100 cows that each require 1 gallon of water every day. The farmer decides a windmill can pump the water. He installs a Windmill that can pump 100 Gallons of water. The next day there isn't any wind. The Farmer decides that he can fix the problem by installing another windmill, Now he will have one to pump the water and the other to charge some batteries for when there is no wind. This worked until the wind stopped for 2 days, After the first day without wind the power in the batteries was used up. So he decided that he needed to install a Third Windmill to store more energy and he would also have to increase his battery storage capacity. Finally he looked at his bills and realized he would have been better off just buying a gas powered pump. Even after installing a Third Windmill he still doesn't have energy reliability. Wind and Solar can't provide a guaranteed energy supply, This fact makes solar an...mored wind a redundancy of the reliably of coal as our primary energy source. Every time they need to draw form the secure power source they should pay a penalty to that provider to pay for whoever has to provide this back up power, ensuring that people still have a secure source of energy. This is the problem with wind it is redundant of the secure source of energy as you can't predict when there will and won't be power.
  • ClimatePonziLie reply Commercial Wind Turbines. The costs for a utility scale wind turbine range from about $1.3 million to $2.2 million per MW of nameplate capacity installed. Most of the commercial-scale turbines installed today are 2 MW in size and cost roughly $3-$4 million installed. MW stands for Mega Watt. 2,000,000 Watts. Sounds impressive. Your Microwave requires 1500 Watts. 2,000,000 divided by 1500 equal 1333 Microwave ovens. Does that sound like it can power 1333 homes. Well only if you don't run your Washing machine, Dryer or your Refrigerator, A/C, Stove. all at once. 2,000,000 /(1500 x 6)= 220 home and I haven't allowed for lights, TV, etc. the wind power doesn't look impressive. Wind is a unreliability because you can't control when their providing power or sitting idle so you must have (require) a secure power source for when the wind stops. This fact means they wind actually increase the cost of the entire electrical system for everyone. In reality they are useless but they look impressive...more to the uninformed.
