"Seed To Seed 2nd Edition" By Suzanne Ashworth
If your goal is self-sufficient gardening, this book is essential for your library. Seed to Seed is a complete seed-saving guide that describes specific techniques for saving the seeds of 160 different vegetables. This book contains detailed information about each vegetable, including its botanical classification, flower structure and means of pollination, required population size, isolation distance, techniques for caging or hand-pollination, and also the proper methods for harvesting, drying, cleaning, and storing the seeds.
"Mushrooms Demystified" by David Arora. This is a must-have book before adding local mushrooms to your menu or adopting any of the many other uses for them.
"All That The Rain Promises and More: A Hip Pocket Field Guide" by David Arora (at the same link) is an excellent companion to the larger book above. It provides a more user friendly way to zero in on the the mushroom you're investigating and then sends you to the corresponding pages in the much larger "Mushrooms Demystified"
