  • [ – ] Y2JayDoesAsia reply Thanks for the shout out! I still don't really get the ending to this film, are you able to explain it? I mean it was like this big white ball explosion thing enveloped everybody. I've seen this movie like 10 times and still don't get it, are you able to clarify exactly what happen at the end? I enjoy this movie mainly for the first half, I dig the motorcycle gang wars, LOL.
    • theoldsparrow parent reply Yeah the motorcycle gangs wars are pretty cool. I'll message you about the ending because I don't want to talk about spoilers in the open. Thank you for the tip too. My first one. :D
  • [ – ] GameMusicHallberg reply I remember seeing the movie but I don't remember much of it, maybe it's time to check some oldie :D
  • JessicaMartwin reply I loved this movie! Great review.
  • [ – ] Thatonecoupletv reply We love a good anime but haven't seen Akira. Thanks for uploading this and reminding us we need to see this!!! (far off future of 2019 lol)
    • [ – ] theoldsparrow parent reply It's a classic. It really spurred the west into getting into anime and is just a really good movie. I hope you enjoy it. :D
      • [ – ] Thatonecoupletv parent reply Thank you =) What are some good current Anime that you enjoy?
        • [ – ] theoldsparrow parent reply Well the Winter season has mostly wrapped up so we're in the in between seasons time. A funny comedy from this just past season would be Gabriel Drop. Also we're two days away from the dystopian action anime Attack on Titan season 2 so it may be a little late to watch the entirety of the first season unless you really hustle through episodes but you might be able to catch up in time for the second episode of the season. If you meant current less literally I would highly recommend Hellsing Ultimate. It's an Original Video Animation or OVA for short that really took its time to put out the best quality possible. Plus who doesn't like killing Nazi vampires?
          • Thatonecoupletv parent reply Awesome thank you Hellsing sounds like fun haha! We just wrapped up watching Season 1 of Sword Art Online and LOVED it, if you haven't watched that yet you should really check it out! =D
        • theoldsparrow parent reply I meant Gabriel Dropout. Sorry about that.
  • [ – ] wabinosabi reply Omg I remember this series now!! I seen it a really long time ago one night veryyy late and I didn't really get what was going on. I think I understand it better now after watching your review ^^ I'm going to put it on my list of things to watch/re-watch. Great review ^^
    • [ – ] theoldsparrow parent reply It was a staple for late night scifi channel in the mid to late 90's. Some of my earliest realization that there was animation besides kids cartoons came from there. Akira is a good anime that you can watch over and over and still pick things up. Thank you for the kind words.
  • [ – ] RSNAnime reply It's strange to think that this movie was the reason that I was able to get into anime when I was younger like Pokemon and Digimon. I ended up watching Akira a couple years ago and was surprised by how violent it was and how it had some nudity. If I could offer a suggestion for future videos, maybe highlight some of the other older classics that might not be as well known by newer fans of the medium. From the comments you've left on my videos I can tell you have a large beadth of knowledge of the medium, so that could be something to build off of with your videos. Also, going off of what Orginaljun said, I've found that using clips or pictures makes it so I can focus more on the audio when I record. I tend to flub what I'm trying to say so it's easy to edit out without it being noticeable, and I can rerecord that line later and just put it in if I don't like the original. A lot of times I'll also just read my script allowed before I record it to catch things I don't like and that help...mores get it in my head so I know what I'm going to say. Good luck as you make more videos, I look forward to future reviews.
    • [ – ] theoldsparrow parent reply Thank you for the kind advice. My next video will be on something more obscure. At this point I'm just trying to get to a competent level. I just learned today how to cut and snap video together so this was more of an experiment in doing a little longer video with the really bad flubbing cut out but I still had some errors left in unfortunately. I think I'll figure the editing software out a bit more before my next attempt and definitely include screen shots and clips to make things look more professional. Thank you once again. :D
      • RSNAnime parent reply It does take some practice and trying different things, so I'm sure you'll figure out a style that works for you before long. There is a lot to learn, but I've found that editing isn't too hard. The audio I've found is the key since that's the point you're getting across, the rest is just dressing on top of it.
  • [ – ] Orginaljun reply I like your reviews, but i noticed that its really obvious you read the text you have typed. Be more yourself, dynamic. You don't actually have to show yourself when recording, because if people want to know about the manga or anime just show images and the manga itself, its more natural. If you record yourself then you have to do more work, because people want to see the emotion of your face like laughs, smile, make funny faces sometimes like the game chasers, kevjumba or nigahiga. Not everyone can do it and that's why some people don't show the faces like me, but then you will have to show interesting material en images or the actual product. I know its your second video. Is it worth the risk to use images of the manga or anime, i would say, it depends on how often you uses. Using the actual product you buy and show some pages to the people i would say its oke, because you promote the product, its not like you show every page. Using a trailer of the anime i would say yes because peopl...moree use a lot trailers to review. The only thing you need to watch out is using copyright images to often, thats why you have to use it in modest way, because of the flagging and its your own choice and risk of course. I wish you good luck and dont give up and if fall just get up and try again with video editing whether its with windows movie maker or imovie (apple). People will notice the hard work you have put in and if people just put a video really fast then people will see it too. When i record i have recorded myself over 5 times before i chose the good record video. So when making video's it looks easy, but it takes more time behind the scenes. With each try you will become better and you can only become better if you after failing. ive found a youtuber named InsidiousSwede https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uO-sVxwPJXo and he reviews manga etc, he does it with the close up of the manga itself and jump cuts of images. Its more natural. I know its copyrighting with the jump cut images, but you can try it, because up till now you don't have any warnings.
    • [ – ] theoldsparrow parent reply Thank you for the advice. I'll have to admit I've not been using images intentionally to avoid copyright issues and it is a little less work. Using promotional material does seem like a good even balance to have some variation. I'll try to put more pictures in on the next video and record multiple takes so my reading doesn't seem too obvious.
      • Y2JayDoesAsia parent reply Sparrow you need to read up on Fair use https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fair_use Basically it's a part of US copyright law that allows you to use portions of other people's copyrighted material WITHOUT thier consent for purposes of commentary, critisism, parody etc. And I agree with Orginuljun... reading from the script, that's more for news show anchors, for any kind of Youtube video, I would stick to bulletpoints. Make a list of the points you wanna make in the vid, write them down in sequential order, put the list near the camera if you need to. And follow each bulletpoint and speak from the heart.
