  • ClimatePonziLie reply I will try to explain the problem with wind generation with a analogy. A farmer has 100 cows that each require 1 gallon of water every day. The farmer decides a windmill can pump the water. He installs a Windmill that can pump 100 Gallons of water. The next day there isn't any wind. The Farmer decides that he can fix the problem by installing another windmill, Now he will have one to pump the water and the other to charge some batteries for when there is no wind. This worked until the wind stopped for 2 days, After the first day without wind the power in the batteries was used up. So he decided that he needed to install a Third Windmill to store more energy and he would also have to increase his battery storage capacity. Finally he looked at his bills and realized he would have been better off just buying a gas powered pump. Wind and Solar can't provide a guaranteed energy supply, This fact makes solar and wind a redundancy of the reliably of coal as our primary energy source. Every ...moretime they need to draw form the secure power source they should pay a penalty to that provider to pay for whoever has to provide this back up power, ensuring that people still have a secure source of energy. This is the problem with wind it is redundant of the secure source of energy as you can't predict when there will and won't be power.

Most of the commercial-scale turbines installed today are 2 MW in size and cost roughly $3-$4 million installed. MW stands for Mega Watt. 2,000,000 Watts. Sounds impressive. Your Microwave requires 1500 Watts. 2,000,000 divided by 1500 equal 1333 Microwave ovens. Does that sound like it can power 1333 homes. Well only if you don't run your Washing machine, Dryer or your Refrigerator, A/C, Stove, all at once then the number of homes being supplied by the wind power doesn't look impressive. Wind is a unreliability because you can't control when their providing power or sitting idle so you must have (require) a secure power source for when the wind stops. This fact means they wind actually increase the cost of the entire electrical system for everyone. In reality they are useless but they look impressive to the uninformed.
