Will Fidget Spinners Become The Next Hoverboard?
As you probably know Fidget Spinners are the hottest toy of 2017. Youtube is full of Fidget Spinner unboxings, reviews, and even trick videos.
I recently heard a rumor on Reddit, as well as from some Chinese suppliers that UPS will not ship fidget spinners, the reason supposedly has something to do with there possibly being a patent on them.
When you import products by air shipping via either UPS, Fedex, DHL, etc they handle the customs documentation for you. I could see how UPS or any shipping company potentially wouldn't want to deal with a product if there were issues regarding patents. Look at what happenned when hoverboards started getting stopped by customs.
Now I realize hoverboards had a variety of issues from the unsafe batteries and fires to people being injured on them. There also was a patent issue regarding them as well. Segway claimed ownership for a short period of time, then Mark Cuban and several others battled it out over who owned the rights to the hoverboard and in the end I believe Razor Scooter wound up with the patent.
Even to this day you cannot use the word "hoverboard" in an eBay or Amazon listing as it's apparently a trademarked term.
As of right now this is just a rumor, however I have seen several people on Reddit mention that their fidget spinners are being shipped by either USPS, or DHL as UPS supposedly will not ship tehm.
Will the fidget spinner be the hoverboard of 2017?
