This was a game that I originally rented, and then later wound up owning. And it's safe to say that it was one of my favorites as a kid. Star Tropics and it's sequel, Zoda's Revenge, were developed by Nintendo specifically for the Western market, IE North America and Europe, and thus neither were originally released in Japan. Which, to me, is silly, because these games are amazing, and the Japanese market would have loved them just as much, I think.
When I first beat Star Tropics, and got the grand ending and everything, this tune, while repetitive, really stuck with me. It's just a great ending theme, as the credits roll by, accompanies by pictures of your journey throughout the game. Really epic for the NES, and very satisfactory. It was an ending that really felt like a reward for all that hard work.
The song (and overall game soundtrack,) were made by composer Yoshio Hirai, who also did the soundtrack for Zoda's Revenge, which was one of the last major releases for the NES in North America, in 1994.
