Chris Bryant: If I am honest, I have given up on predicting what happens in elections because it has gone really badly this year. Everything I have predicted has not come to pass.
I have never been a betting man anyway. And if I am honest, the thing I don't like about referendums is that it does divide the country inevitably in a sense. That is quite painful, in families and in our political life. To be honest, I hope you don't have another referendum at the moment.
I am Labour and a [English] Welsh MP, I would prefer Scotland to stay in the union. But that is not my biggest reason, it is more because I think that in these next few years, we are going to need to unite, if we are going to survive the Brexit issue. And I say this very gently to John. Sometimes, and I feel this in Wales sometimes as well, I think when we have devolved powers, we should get on and use them properly.
The Scottish Government could, if it wanted to, have ended the franchise for the railways...
