The nerf to gas damage is actually not specific to gas damage at all; it's a fix to the way that stealth damage multipliers interact with damage-over-time effects. This results in a huge drop in damage for gas procs delivered while in a stealthed state. Is this terrible or logical? In this video I'll explain everything and tell you what I think.

Do note that the Atterax and the Twin Basolk are not the only two weapons that can deal this kind of stealth proc damage. They're just popular, effective examples. Do also note that this video is not about the best way to take advantage of any of this information, because I honestly don't care about that. It's up to you to decide how to harness this information,
