Problem is, ok, you have a machine gun fire team, but on this battlefield, no artillary, armor, or close air support contributing to an operation. Strategically, the process became doomed due to that imbalance. Imagine WW1 without the advent of the Tank, it's just a fucking meat grinder. Still a meat grinder with armor, but at least someone can push an objective decisively. But for fun? No, modern combat is not fun, not even for pretend.
    • Y2JayDoesAsia parent reply Meat grinder, yeah I'd say that wording is accurate!. Last game I played, I saw one guy stuck in the meat grinder, he was being shot at by 10 guys all shooting full auto guns and get got hit and tried to leave the field and they just. kept. shooting.
  • [ – ] Flying_Purple_Pizzas reply It seems it would only work if everyone is using the same type of gun, maybe single shot. It's sad that the fun had to end. It does force you to adapt and branch out to try other things. One day a new technology will come along and a similar sport may arise. We'll see. Thanks for sharing!
    • Y2JayDoesAsia parent reply You're dead right. It's why the game is still fun if you rent your gear. If you rent it, you get a basic semi automatic mechanical gun, with limited quantities of paint, and the whole playing field is basically level. But when you have people on the field with differing levels of technology, it's not fun anymore.
  • [ – ] MrJoelDee reply I know this is completely off the subject of the video, but I never played paintball, so had to comment on something else I loved about these 2 pieces, and that was the background music. Amazing Grace has always been one of my favorite hymns and hearing certain instruments play it brings tears to my eyes everytime just because it's so beautiful.
  • Tyger reply Some of us said no. We got shouted down by e-celebs, the magazines, the "hardcore" louder players, the industry, the tournaments and tourney players, and every testosterone fueled "alpha male" who screams "If you can't take it, leave" then turns around with "OMG DTOP SHOOTING ME YOU (expletive deleted)" It was a losing war for 15+ years, my final straw was a 14 year old tourney puke who threatened to murder me for shooting him from behind with one ball (which blew my cover AND caused a stoppage of game as he had to be restrained), but it was ok by the field owner because "he's a good guy and he's on the field's sponsored team." Haven't put on the camo since. I miss it sometimes, I have tiger stripes just hanging in my closet for 4 years that haven't been battle worn, but I also know that if I do go back, what I'm stepping into. And it's not good.
