I had about three goals with this one. The first was to try to make a track sound 16-bit-ish rather than 8-bit. The second was to explore how to duck the kick on Reaper. And the third was to come up with my own chiptune/16-bit patches for this song rather than relying on some presets that I bought off of someone else.
I believe I succeeded in the ducking part and the patches that I made seem pretty good too. The drums, except for the kick, were all made from scratch off of massive. I think the ducking of the kick went well too--I will get better at implementing this in Reaper as time goes on. As for 16-bit sound? I guess that's subjective. I do have two synths in there that rely on FM synthesis, so it's really up to the listener to decide.
Let me know what you think! :)
