  • [ – ] UnarmoredForce reply I remember bucklers were illegal to carry around in some places in Renaissance Italy by civilians even though swords and daggers were free game if I remember correctly. People were much more prone to get into duels when they knew they could defend themselves with a shield.
    • [ – ] JimGiant parent reply Seems plausible. A dagger is definitely better than an empty hand but a buckler is makes a gigantic difference. Have you trained with any weapons besides longsword?
      • [ – ] UnarmoredForce parent reply I've actually done more bolognese sidesword than longsword, but for some reason I haven't talked as much about bolognese than longsword. Been meaning to visit a seminar where they teach bolognese rotella shield techniques this summer.
  • NickOfTime reply This is really awesome and interesting, dude! Thank you! I've always had my beef with becoming super slow and hunched over after raising a shield lol
