  • [ – ] WalkingForWeightLoss reply I hope I never get kidney stones. I am primarily sugar-beverage free and mostly drink only water. I do drink a lot of soda water and - kinda like everything to consume - there are some who claim it's bad to ingest carbonated drinks.
    • [ – ] CJwoodruff parent reply More than likely the idea of "carbonated beverages are bad" is again a correlation that has been taken out of context. I will say it 100X over... Correlation does not = Causation. Sodas got a bad wrap because of the high sugar content. High sugar content meant high calories. High calories meant more chronic weight gain. Weight gain meant more obesity. Finally obesity linked to all of these horrible things... With that being said we have to consider the data in its entirety. 1: Sugar is not "bad" it's simply another energy yeilding nutrient that when abused causes issues.... but now its been painted as "toxic". In no way am I saying consume all the sugar you can... I am saying that it is an energy source that is easily abused, leading to issues. 2: Carbonation was never the problem... and neither was caffeine. But both of them were in the sodas with the sugar... therefore they got shit on as well. 3: We have hundreds of now 0 sugar and 0 calorie option sodas... so...more the whole thing is out of context now lol I might do a sugar video today... that sound like something you would want to hear?

Some of the science you cite goes over my head but I think it's 100% awesome that you're not only so smart about that stuff but you back up your claims. I'd be curious about your reaction to the report: Twinkie diet helps nutrition professor lose 27 pounds "His premise: That in weight loss, pure calorie counting is what matters most -- not the nutritional value of the food." While walking for weight loss (which I've successful done previously and only regained because I stopped and then succumbed to emotional eating), I still eat what I want, I just don't go over 2k calories per day.
        • CJwoodruff parent reply I agree with the Twinkie diet guy. I'm a big picture nutrition guy and at the end of the day thermodynamics has yet to be disrupted lol
  • [ – ] Kentantino reply now Is true that caffeine is really bad for your blood high pressure sadly I have that, but is such a good pre work out lol . I use to be a gym rat back in the day now I am back to noob town lol great info XD
    • CJwoodruff parent reply Yes people with pre existing hypertension or heart issues should avoid it. With that being said, there is no research that backs up it causing those issues. So basically if you already have it, it might make things worse... but for those that don't it seems safe.
