  • [ – ] duffy reply Hey man! Vidme staff here. Really appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts on Vidme. We love feedback videos like this, even when they’re somewhat critical :) We're glad to know that maintaining the integrity of the community is important to you, because it's most definitely one of the most important things to us! You cover a lot of ground here, but I’ll try to address each of your points one-by-one. 1.) Video responses: These aren’t currently roadmapped, but soon we’ll enable @ mentions in video descriptions in addition to comments so other community members will receive notifications if/when you’re creating a video in reply to them. 2.) Hot feed: Our hot feed algorithm calculates a score for videos based on several factors, including: upvotes, publish time, featured status, and trending status of other videos from the same community member. These factors explain why some videos with fewer upvotes may appear higher than others with more at any given time. 3.) Th...moreuleanPerspective: During his time on Vidme one of his videos was in the top row of the trending feed at all times without interruption. A few may have been recategorized by our moderators into the Politics category, which would have made them ineligible to appear in the hot feed. (You can read more on this here: https://www.reddit.com/r/vidme/comments/5nmtz8/come_chat_with_us_about_the_new_hot_feed.) For the most part, though, his videos remained in the hot feed and performed very well. 4.) Team picks: I’ll quote my reply to @DjMu3L here: “One thing I'd like to underscore for you is that helping emerging creators is a huge part of our stated mission and is core to our values and philosophies. We value channels of all type and sizes here, but we're especially proud to be able to shine a spotlight on deserving creators who haven't managed to find their audience yet elsewhere.” That said, we’re also stoked when we see a bigger creator we love like @DidYouKnowGaming come to Vidme, and we’re glad to announce his channel in our team picks feed. Touting big creators doesn’t come at the expense of smaller ones. 5.) NSFW content: Per our community rules (vid.me/rules), we ask creators to self-tag NSFW content in the titles of their videos. You’re probably right that we could do more to make this more clear. 6.) Censorship: As long as content abides by our rules and terms, it will never be removed by Vidme staff. We firmly believe in individuals’ rights to freedom of thought and expression. These are core values to Vidme. 7.) YouTube alternative: Our goal is not to build an “alternative” to Youtube. We believe there’s room in the world for more than one video platform. Vidme offers a different community, different discovery methods, and different monetization models (https://medium.com/vidme/subscriptions-rethinking-monetization-dfb69fdcc0dd). We never suggest creators should “switch” to Vidme exclusively. I hope I was able to answer most of your questions with this super-long reply! This is officially my longest comment ever, but your thoughtful video deserves an equally thoughtful answer. If you’d ever like to discuss in more detail, shoot us an email at creators@vid.me and we’d be glad to chat and get to know you better.
    • [ – ] MisterMetokur parent reply Thanks for taking the time to reply. A few things. As to point 7 about merely being a different platform rather than a pure alternative I think you're underestimating yourself. I've noticed with sites like Minds and VidMe as well, a newer approach to baking in features from the getgo that older sites like Facebook and Youtube just don't have. One portion of that would be the monetization features of tippling/subscribing/donating. Here it is pretty intuitive whereas on other sites it's tacked on. I get the feeling that the next round of social media sites are going to be like the leap from flip phones to smart phones where features are akin to apps and you can almost do anything from one single platform. And I'm sure Reddit didn't think during its beginning that it would dominate Digg or Facebook that it would destroy Myspace but it happens lol. The better platform inevitably takes the crown willingly or not. I'm glad to hear your response in 6 that you are for letting people u...morepload the kind of content they make. I think a lot of people are still for whatever reason hesitant to stick their toes in the water to test things out because they are unsure just how open of an open platform VidMe really is. As to the other points I appreciate the info on how picks/trends are done and a bit more background on Thuleans videos.
      • [ – ] duffy parent reply Glad you saw this! And thanks for the kind words. We're definitely excited about the future. And our offer still stands if you ever want to talk in person :)
        • BigThoughts parent reply Can I ask a question? I'm a very small Youtuber that also wanted to start here because I think this new platform is going to be awsome! The question I have is, I've uploaded a few videos, but I am not able to pick a category? Maybe I'm missing something? Keep doing what you guys do!
      • Nosirrag parent reply Glad he could help.
    • [ – ] Eheroduelist parent reply Very cool that you have staff that's willing to at least respond to creators and their concerns, versus YouTube that is entirely automated (understandably so, but still has that Steam effect). A great reply. I do have one question personally, what is the "Team picks" page supposed to be? My understanding is that it is content that your team personally enjoys to watch. Am I off on that assumption? One suggestion I've seen and propagated myself is the idea of a kind of "Small creators trending" page, similar to the trending page but instead of the general platform it features small creators (less than 100-200 followers?). Would something like that be able to be implemented, and if so do you think it would be a good idea to implement?
      • [ – ] duffy parent reply Team picks is exactly that: Videos that we love from creators we think deserve to be highlighted. If you ever have a video you'd like considered for the team picks feed, email us a link to teampicks@vid.me. I personally love the idea of a spotlight section for smaller channels. We've talked about something like this before actually. I'll definitely bring it up again!
        • [ – ] doombybbr parent reply There are ones you may miss(as it is just what you see), so it may be useful to have one where it is trending from small creators picked entirely by algoritm. Not saying team picks is a bad idea, just that there should be "team picks" "trending" and "trending from small creators"
          • [ – ] duffy parent reply Agree. We want to do everything we can to spotlight emerging channels!
            • Natsumiya parent reply On newgrounds back in the day there were weekly awards that were displayed on the front page, and stayed there for a week. There was 1-5th best (highest rated) vids, underdog of the week (the biggest difference between positive reviews and votes), turd of the week (the lowest ranking video), and staff picks of the week. Going into the new era of social media stuff, I think its good to take a look back at the old internet the pre-3G internet and remember why people loved it so much, as chaotic as it was.
        • InvestorsHangout parent reply That's a great idea duffy. - David
      • WhatNextSunshine parent reply Yes. I am surprised that the VIDME STAFF is concerned replying in detail & shedding light on the algorithm. COOL! :-)
    • [ – ] Politiekman parent reply I'm glad to see Vidme staff is at least responding to concerns. YouTube should pay attention. Quick question: do you have plans for any sort of markup for comments? (or even just line breaks?)
      • [ – ] duffy parent reply Yes! More comment formatting options are in the works!
        • [ – ] duffy parent reply We actually JUST rolled out line breaks today. See? Ask and ye shall receive!
          • [ – ] Grapevine parent reply I was about to say, your original comment is a little tough to read. Here's hoping that there's a way for you to *edit* that in the near future?
          • [ – ] Quantummist parent reply I ask you guys get around to approving my stuff so I can upload a couple more vid's I can't because of the newbe limits ;)
            • Quantummist parent reply I'm the only minority in the US that everyone thinks it ok to discriminate against in the open and no one cares.. We have no protections like LGBT..XYZ's... Blacks, Hispanics, Women ect. all have protections except us and now Vidme seems to be doing the same....
            • [ – ] Quantummist parent reply I'm starting to think it's because I'm a minority....
              • [ – ] firaro parent reply What minority are you, and why do you think it's cause of that?
                • [ – ] Quantummist parent reply Hillbilly... We are the last minority that people still make step and fetchit movies about ... People can make racist jokes about us and people just laugh.. And what other minority would let stores and restaurants ban them from entering because of wearing ethnic dress... No Shoes, No Shirt , No Service is a direct attack on our cultural heritage... As soon as we can get our NGO up and running we are going to start protesting ... The N.A.A.H.P. (National American Association of Hillbilly People ) will be a force to be reckoned with I reckon.... And it obvious... :)
                  • [ – ] firaro parent reply Hmm, interesting. I dont know many people who are opposed to mocking any other culture, not like yours is an exception. But i guess there are some people who oppose mocking cultures and they dont tend to include yours which is interesting. It's obviously not racism since hillbilly isnt a race, but i guess there isnt another good word for it. I see why it might bother you, just like it bothers anyone when any group they are a part of is mocked. And it's good to fix misconceptions about your culture. But if we cant mock cultures than what are we really left with? I guess that leaves us just allowed to mock individual people? Nah, insofar as making fun of is ok then you can make fun of my culture and i'll not feel bad for doing the same of any other.
                    • [ – ] Quantummist parent reply But Hillbily is as much of a "Race" as Muslim or Mexican...so there is that.....
                      • [ – ] firaro parent reply But muslim and mexican arent a race. They are a religious affiliation and a nationality respectively. They are often conflated with the races arab and hispanic respectively. Hillbilly would be conflated with the race: white. Which yes, it is unfortunately accepted by too many people to be racist against whites. I'll mock mexican culture sometimes. And i'll mock islam sometimes. And i'll mock hillbilly culture the same. I may even, at my discretion, think badly of said things. But i wont seriously think less of someone just for being hispanic, arab, or white (or any race)
                        • [ – ] Quantummist parent reply While I agree just go on line and say something about Mexican or Muslims and the first thing that happens it you get called a Racist.... Try telling your next SJW that you think Mexicans are what ever in a bad way as a test..... You Racist you....
                    • Quantummist parent reply Comedy is not your ballywick I see....
        • [ – ] Andrath parent reply Being able to reply to comments without having to play the video again would be nice.
        • Politiekman parent reply excellent. So far, that's my biggest issue with Vidme, because I tend to write essay comments
        • [ – ] lastwolfking parent reply How does one assign his video to a category? Category also do not display on the mobile phones/ This is a nice format to a site so would like to help contribute
          • [ – ] lastwolfking parent reply Also reply to me, Hi me - Hi Spill. Wait im not spill. .. Anyways , Tailoring your channel up, controling what order the videos on front page are displayed. Perhaps widgets , dunno Spill? what mate. Removing visable comments and uplikes , allowing more tight is tight a good word creators to function on channel. Dunno will email this all.
          • [ – ] duffy parent reply For now, only verified channels may assign videos to categories. This is possible in the video manager during upload. Apply for verification at vid.me/verified.
            • firaro parent reply Curious: why can only verified channels categorise their videos? Im having trouble thinking of any reason unverified channels doing that might cause a problem
    • bennitori parent reply I think the idea of having only one video per user trending at any given time is a great idea. I just wish I had known about it. It actually would've gotten me excited because it incentivizes people to make one good video instead of five meh videos. Maybe provide small descriptions on the title heads so people know the parameters of each title better? Or have these titles, and then an "Unfiltered" mode so people can see which users are getting the most numbers. Even if it is just one user getting all the views (I think I can guess which one) it would still be cool to know. It would also be a huge moment when somebody finally does beat this creator out. That's how names get made.
    • [ – ] HammerOfDoom parent reply "3.) ThuleanPerspective: During his time on Vidme one of his videos was in the top row of the trending feed at all times without interruption." This is a lie. "At all times without interruption" is not true. I was watching the trending page during his time here and, while he did have videos in the top row for a little while, that suddenly stopped after a time and then it was very hard for any video of his to last more than a couple hours before it vanished from the front page entirely. I actually brought that up in the comments in some of his videos. Some other vidme staffer actually commented in that video which is linked to in this one, that the "community team" or something was making decisions about what was on the front page and what wasnt. But whatever, vidme has their story straight now, and "at all times without interruption" is the line. Its not true, though. I personally witnessed its falsehood in real time. Just another lying talking head, feigning concern with smiley fac...morees and soothing corporate buzzwords/buzzphrases. Youre only concerned about your corporate image and how it effects your bottom line. And FFS, add an edit feature. JFC....
    • [ – ] doombybbr parent reply I have an idea, have a hot feed for popular vidme-ers and one for lesser known ones, where "popular" means ones that have a high average viewership(maybe the top 10% or something). That way you can showcase both popular creators and creators that have only one or two big videos.
      • [ – ] firaro parent reply You dont have to set a bar, then people would try to stay just below that bar. Which is abit of a perverse incentive. Instead you can have it try to gauge the quality of that video to popularity ratio. How to do that would be difficult but perhaps with some tweaking they could manage it into an automated system that promotes videos from small but good channels.
        • [ – ] doombybbr parent reply I get it - every possible idea breaks down when you apply people to the equation.
          • firaro parent reply Not all ideas, just lots of ideas. Always gotta account for what something incentivises.
    • [ – ] ToastersForever parent reply There is one thing I would suggest though - if an account is disabled for any reason, a user isn't told why. A clear reason needs to be stated if a person's account is disabled. One of my accounts on here was disabled for copyright infringement - honest mistake on my part - and it took me writing to vidme's Twitter in order to figure out why it was removed. Maybe where a person goes to log in to a disabled account, instead of it just saying "Your account was disabled" it could display a notice. Also - the ability to edit comments after writing them would be awesome.
    • ToastersForever parent reply This is why I like Vidme. The staff are human and actually respond to concerns.
    • ResistanceChicks777 parent reply I'm waiting to be certified, how long is it going to take? I enter a couple times, Do I have to enter every time? I don't always remember my responses on the questions. so I give different responses,
    • [ – ] Flukie parent reply You should probably be more specific as to what attributes as "mature" content. In there you mostly mention non porn nudity but does swearing count or is it just anything that would generally be seen as 18+ or R rated. I'd recommend keeping it out of titles otherwise videos will just look very messy with NSFW in each of them, perhaps just use the tagging system instead or enable a toggle.
      • [ – ] duffy parent reply Swearing is totally fine and is not considered NSFW here.
        • [ – ] chrishazfun parent reply Speaking of NSFW content, I think (other than putting NSFW in the title, which tbh looks messy, or automatically labeling videos NSFW behind the scenes after uploading,) the onus should be up to the user as to whether videos are NSFW-worthy, I know it's a scary thought but there are plenty of people that are willing to enable NSFW tags on their videos if the option was there. Anyways, reporting is a tool users can use, right? Sorry I just had to get my thoughts out.
          • [ – ] duffy parent reply The onus actually is on creators to tag as NSFW. And yeah..we have a report tool for violating content.
            • chrishazfun parent reply I know that reporting is a thing, I'm just suggesting that reporting should be used more often instead of having an automated NSFW service, also sorry I meant to say the NSFW option should be enabled via a checkbox instead of having to add NSFW to the title. In all honesty my first comment was made in a rush so sorry about that.
    • bracerjack parent reply Thank you for replying to small timers. I have been uploading truly educational high quality videos and I have thousands of views in YouTube reaching almost a million in total, but in Vidme, I was not even trended once, NOT EVEN ONCE. I am starting to think I might be wasting my time here.
    • [ – ] Zero2 parent reply Dear Duffy. I agree there are some proems on Vidme. And it may not be my place to say, but I think I know how to solve this problem. Change the Hot Feed to feature big Vidmers. Change the New feed to feature up coming Vidmers. The current new feed right now has to many spammers. A video will get lost in a matter of minutes. I think a recommendation feed would also be nice. If someone likes content from one channel, another channel that has similar content.
      • duffy parent reply Thanks for the ideas! And you're always more than welcome to share them :) Limiting the hot feed to only certain creators goes against our democratic vision for the community. Same goes for the new feed. I do like the idea of a "Recommended" feed and it's probably something we'll implement down the line, although it's not planned atm.
    • JustNoah parent reply You sound like a shill trying to convince us your company isnt that bad and we are just misinterpereting what you are doing with vidme. But we all can see how you guys construct your website. Ive been watching vidme for a while, and from what ive seen you guys are just as bad as youtube. You put videos on the trending page exactly how youtube does theirs. You put click baity stuff up and thats it. Ive never found a trending video that actually entertained me or had me wanting to watch more from a creator. The trending page is a joke. The vidme staff never even supports small channels, not once have i seen them do that. Vidme dont give a shit about any of us or our content. They only promote the type of content that the retards watch because they dont care about our creativity or our ability to create good content. Ive seen some of the shitties videos on the trending page that have absolutely no thought put into them. Yet vidme pushes that dogshit to the top of the pile. Anymore im pret...morety sure vidme staff is a bunch of white cucks that couldnt get jobs ripping people off on youtube, so they made theyre own site. And now everytime someone complains they give these lengthy explainations trying to justify the shady shit they do. Vidme is not the savior of the youtube community, its not even a good alternative. Its just another shitty site where people upload shitty videos sucking dick for views because everyone wants to be like pewdiepie and make millions one day. Sorry to tell you all but not one fucking person who reads this comment will be that successful doing what he has done, ever. So instead of copying him and the other popular youtubers, we should be actually making decent content that has value and substance to it. Have a start and an end to your video, with scripting and editing involved. You cant just film yourself doing something stupid for 5 minutes anymore. That is not entertaining. With so much content in the world today you cant rely on these 5 min shit vids to do anything for your channel, and if you do then anyone genuine watchin your video will see right through your bullshit and never think twice about checking out your channel again. If you actually care about entertaining people, then take the time and make something interesting, otherwise dont fucking upload. Seriously so many people out there know they shouldnt be uploading shit yet they do it anyway because they are all hoping to blow up like another pewds. Like i said it wont happen. You cannot sociopath your way to the top anymore. People are becoming much more aware of the fake smiles and pandery af replies. I dont hate vidme, i just think the creators are full of shit.
    • [ – ] TmibTulelo parent reply Hm. Why political videos can't be on the trending page, if they are actually trending? That's kinda strange. It's kinda saying if someone interested in politics, he is not equal to others. I don't really make any political videos, I think there is like almost none on my YT channel but it's alarming if people get removed from trending page just for mentioning or talking about politics. :-)
      • firaro parent reply He linked to a post explaining it Tl;dr: it's a bodge to handle a problem with their algorithm, they are trying to find a better way to handle it. Before they did it a single person was dominating the trending page which is not optimal.
    • Turn_Coat parent reply Mate, I wanna say that I really appriciate you guys communicating with your users. Best of luck, I appriciate the work your doing, and hope everything works out for all of us.
    • [ – ] Torzelan parent reply First off, love the site and your active interaction and openness. Honestly, HD videos don't always load too quick here (great connections both at home and work but perhaps the routing up to northern Sweden hasn't been prioritized yet or something, no idea how that works) and just that would be an _instant_ dealbreaker in any other case, which I'm saying as a compliment and testament to how promising everything else is. Now, you say "Vidme offers a different community, different discovery methods[...]" and as another early YouTuber I'm sitting here screaming "VIDEO RESPONSES!" internally. Those were _so good_ for community stuff in general and smaller channels in particular. I also don't know if it's a cultural thing or what, but I hate asking people to watch my videos, feels terrible even if it's a response video someone asked for. The built-in video response system was the perfect solution. Could post music covers on the originals too and sort of just leave it there and let people...more watch if they wanted to, felt fair. Gotta be honest, when they removed that feature (for whatever reason, I'm pretty sure it was more cynical than just combatting "reply girls" but even then there must have been better solutions; finding those have never been YouTube's strong suit though) they basically killed me or at least my "growth". I'm still running my race doing what I love but actually getting anyone to see it without sinking to desperate spamming would be like winning the lottery now. Sorry for venting, just really miss that feature more than anything, even the custom background images YouTube used to let us have. :)
      • [ – ] firaro parent reply They removed video replies due to horribly low click-through rates. Basically the metrics showed that video replies might as well not exist, so they got rid of them taking up space
        • [ – ] Torzelan parent reply Yeah, but that's an awful way of looking at it, right? By the same reasoning, me and my videos along with nearly everyone and everything else *statistically* "might as well not exist" and are just "taking up space" compared to the PewDiePies and Gangnam Styles etc of the site. Fact is, for the channels and communities who *did* use them, video replies were a GREAT feature. A feature that *already existed* but, like so many other features (like a front page actually showing you what you want rather than what's "trending"/being pushed/paid for...) just got axed because who cares about normal users?
          • [ – ] firaro parent reply They were taking up space on every single video, whereas your videos in no real way clutter up people's experience of other channels.
            • Torzelan parent reply Rather let individual channels disable/moderate video replies (like with comments) if they want, then. Removing such a feature entirely seems like an uncool solution to the problem of subjectively disliking the potential "clutter" it can cause. They can, as they did, do whatever they want with their site, of course - and I can think it's a bit arrogant and elitist. The royalty just removing an eyesore from their view; F the plebs who were actually using it, they're simply not important enough to try to accomodate by trying to find another solution.
    • marlodellantonio parent reply What about a Content ID system, for musicians and dancers, who want to perform cover songs? Or, for musicians creating original content; to be able to have it tagged and monetized? It took Youtube a few years to square this away with record companies, however, I believe it is a huge detriment to not have a plan for this in the works. What are your thoughts on this?
    • clidefrog parent reply Id be WAY more likely to tip if I could send a balance, say by BTC, and then pull from that balance to tip. No way Im gonna go through the process of charging my cc to tip $1.
  • [ – ] Chrone reply Very nice and in depth analysis MisterMetokur, very high quality. I just want to add that it might be a good thing that we don't fully understand 'how the hot page works' because if its fully clear how to get to #1, you might get creators working FOR the algorithm, not creating the content they actually want to make. That's just my 2cents. Keep being critical, everything needs feedback to grow!
    • Lego_Fun parent reply Make that 3 cents worth
    • [ – ] Azurenightsky parent reply People will create whatever they want, some will try and game the system to the greatest advantage, that's part of the game my friend. Would it be ideal if we all created what we loved? Absolutely. But what if you love attention, views, comments, followers? Then you'll game the system to draw them all in to see you. I personally would rather know the systems ins and outs, maybe not down to the nuts and bolts of it all, but even a basic outline so we know what's going on, would be nice. A bit of transparency can go a long way, y'know?
      • Chrone parent reply That's a good Counterpoint (pun intended), but as it is Vidme's mission to put creators first (not system-gamers/attention seekers) I believe not being fully transparent is the way for them to go.
  • [ – ] Nihilore reply i miss video responses on YouTube
    • [ – ] Politiekman parent reply Yeah, but I don't miss the reply girls
      • [ – ] MisterMetokur parent reply No matter the system in place someone is always going to game it. Reply girls got annoying sure but the feature itself was pretty great and I think with some minor tweaks could be a better way of daisychaining videos. I notice a lot of people doing theme videos and people responding with similar titles, this is just a more direct version that I think encourages content creation and makes a smaller community feel closer.
        • [ – ] Spinny parent reply All they had to do is stop reply videos from being monetized
          • [ – ] Politiekman parent reply that would kind of defeat the purpose in my opinion, due to the considerable amount of full-time youtubers who make their living making response videos
            • [ – ] Spinny parent reply and that proved to fuck up the site more than anything had that came before it. Nah fuck that shit..... if they best you have to offer is a reply make a channel and let people see it that way... if you were't interesting enough to make an extra click to... you likely weren't worth it anyway
        • [ – ] Politiekman parent reply Oh yeah, a reply-type system would be great, either in the form of direct replies, or maybe through a system where you can add something in the meta-data which will make the system register your video as 'related' to the video you're responding to. And like you said, any system can and will be gamed anyway.
          • SecretNenteus parent reply Or just give the person whose video is being replied to the ability to remove the video reply from that list of video replies.
    • JimGiant parent reply If I remember correctly the OP could remove video responses or not allow them all together. Reply girls weren't a big issue and even if they were it would make more sense for Youtube to deal with them directly rather than ruin it for everyone. I'm kinda surprised nobody developed a browser plugin which reimplimented video responses.
  • [ – ] Politiekman reply Thulean isn't getting 'censored', he'd been on the top of the trending page for over a week when vidme knocked him off. Vidme stated they did so to give others a chance to reach trending as well, but Thulean immediately started whinging about censorship, when there really was none.
    • [ – ] JimGiant parent reply Apparently if you have more than one video on trending your most recent video is given priority and subsequent videos are penalised. Makes sense to me, the whole trending page would have been Thulean otherwise.
      • [ – ] Politiekman parent reply That sounds like a reasonable policy, because otherwise the 'featured' section kind of loses its point
        • JimGiant parent reply Yeah perfectly reasonable, Thulean would have know this if he spent the time to email Vidme but instead he decided to be a reactionary moron and rage quit.
    • AnimeReviews parent reply Thuleean didn't get kicked off, he rage quit.
  • [ – ] JimGiant reply Lol I'm still angry at YT for disabling video responses.
    • [ – ] Directionally_Challenged parent reply RIGHT!? it was SUCH a good damn feature!
      • [ – ] JimGiant parent reply At the time Youtube was saying it was being removed because very few people used the feature but this was clearly bullshit. Wonder what their real motive was?
        • [ – ] Azurenightsky parent reply 10 shekels says because safe space, people were feeling "attacked" because there were direct responses. I honestly thought I had dreamed of that feature when i started to really use youtube a while back, turns out it was a thing but was removed. Really dumb, would help to keep the debates a bit more open and would allow for communities to grow. If you're a fool and keep posting stupid shit, people will start to recognize it and ignore you. Theoretically, it would foster growth because even the smallest channels could still get some traction by throwing up proper responses on the website.
          • [ – ] JimGiant parent reply Yeah VRs were great for growing a small channel. Post an intelligent response and you could expect at least a handful of new subs. Growing a channel from scratch is MUCH harder these days.
            • Azurenightsky parent reply Sitting at 8 subs, I know the pain of starting now. But fuck it, I get views, some people take the time to comment, some give genuine feedback, it's more than enough to keep me going.
        • [ – ] Directionally_Challenged parent reply probably either overused or just spammed, like you get a big youtuber and he gets a ton of "I LOVE YOU!!!" videos and no real content being made, just a comment in the form of a video.
  • [ – ] RaveN_ reply A vidme video about vidme? This is some next level shit.
  • [ – ] Wolfer reply 2 videos = everyone lol
    • Chrone parent reply Yeah, definitely an exaggeration. I only feel good vibes but what do I know, I've only been here a bit over a week lol.
  • [ – ] Dos_Gaming reply I've been on vidme since September last year. I've not had too much of a problem with vidme but you have to realise that the website changes a lot and fast. So back before the trending page ans when very few people weng to vidme it was just devs picking who coild be on the front page. But as the website grew they changed and tweeked things to make it automatic. It's now time + likes. So if you keep getting likes it goes up but if the likes slow down thd video goes down. As for the NSFW, they used to have a button but it's gone now, maybe they are just tweaking it because there used to be a lot of porn here.
    • WillyMacShow parent reply @MisterMetokur Dos is right. All of vidme's reddit posts and comments are true, but happend during different times of vidme's lifespan. Vidme changed the way how videos have been posted as the website has evolved. I personally think that these videos are damaging to VidMe if not researched correctly. This video is filled with false information. Next time ask vidme veterans such as @Dos_Gaming, or myself.
    • [ – ] Mariner1712 parent reply >there used to be a lot of porn here Do these people not want traffic? It's fucking inevitable, might as well accommodate it early.
      • [ – ] Dos_Gaming parent reply no dude... trust me! Back last year this entire website was full of users dedicated to porn! I was part of the clean up team who removed a lot of the crap.
  • DjMu3L reply Absolutely awesome viewpoint on this issue. I think you very clearly and concisely represented the core of what my rant was trying to get at (unlike a lot of people in the comments on my video!!). Personally, I'd never heard of ThuleanPerspective, but I may have wanted to watch his video, regardless of whatever "Political aspect" may have upset the Vidme Staff, or the algorithm (or whatever the hell is happening with this website), and despite what people are saying in the comments on my video, I am absolutely 100% against censorship. The reason I wanted certain things looked at by Vidme staff is a completely separate debate about how young people can be affected by certain types of content. However I'm really glad you saw my video for what it was actually about and represented it as such - and I'm certain the Vidme community appreciate this video too, as hopefully the Vidme staff will now see that people are taking this seriously and looking at what's happening. Big love to ya Mi...moresterMetokur, appreciate ya. <3
  • [ – ] swarp reply vidme is better.
  • jischinger reply heh this is on the front page
  • EagerVince reply Theulean "I stabbed someone 23 times in the back of the head in self-defense" Perspective. Who'd have thought that a paranoid murderer would be paranoid that someone is trying to sensor him?
  • jischinger reply when youtube first started staff pick the front page - when the pickings were getting redundant and boring the staff took suggestions from 'some' viewers. then youtube killed everyone who worked there and let the bot pick the front page then they programmed the bot for advertisers and what brought in the most money picked the front page then youtube killed all the good creators and it became TV.
  • bennymountain1 reply Louis Cachet is a famous turd, what with media even associating him with Brevik just for a headline, even though he doesn't want shit to do with him. Vidme is a new platform and he's a big problem for their publicity if you see his mug on the front page advertising his actually supremacist tabletop game. Imagine the headline: "Vidme: New video platform supports Stormfront by providing them free video hosting and unlimited bandwidth!" Same deal as Bitcoin and deep web becoming infamous as tools of criminal market. Jim's right, they're between a rock and a hard place here, so expect polarizing decisions and growing pains on their part. Business is hard.
  • [ – ] PowerKegGreg reply Excellent video! Welcome btw! One thing about the NSFW suggestion that might be a problem is that I can see people not labeling their content NSFW because they believe their content doesn't fall under that category. Also who determines what exactly is NSFW? Where's the line? Where's the grey area? However, I said this on DJMu3l video, a lot people seem to forget is that you can report a video and if its a justified reason, do it if you feel inclined too.
    • [ – ] MisterMetokur parent reply Glad you liked the video. Yeah I was a bit confused on how the NSFW thing worked. People explained you tag it in the title and/or description. I think it would work better if there were a tickbox under upload/editing that you could click to mark it as such; more streamlined tbh. And yes you'll always have some that won't use such a feature but there are a lot that would such as myself.
      • PowerKegGreg parent reply I have confidence that people will be honest about their stuff yet there will be those people who will see it as censorship which to me was the whole argument between djmu3l and Tara.
    • Brologic_Productions parent reply This is my concern as well. I, like many, would hate to see important topics be places under NSFW because people don't wantto see it on the front page. (sorry for any confusion, I had to edit my comment.) As for the reporting videos. I didn't plan on reporting anything but I was curious as to what reasons I could "flag a video" under. I couldn't find reasons that said something along the lines of "should be marked as NSFW." It seemed to be focused on the bigger rules.
  • When_you_see_Caitlyn_Jenner reply Doesn't come here to be trending. Ends up being the first on the trending page.
  • Zymon reply T R I G G E R D !
  • AdamSmith101 reply Vidme has a great opportunity here, just hope they make the most of it and actually listen to community feedback
  • [ – ] truckmyad reply just annoys me that the process for being verified for tips seems to be a brick wall for so many. It makes me think there is nepotism and a club from all these alternative sites. It's like their own gang and not really for the people.
  • JRCSalter reply This is a different site than YouTube. Try to reach out to YT and you speak to a robot. Try to reach out to Vidme and from my experience, you will speak to a human. Trouble is, these people seem to be treating the site like YT by getting pissed at things such as this but not actually seeking answers from the site owners. I have seen many comments from Vidme staff on both the vids you mention, as well as this very video. They are listening. If you have a problem speak with them, and I'm sure they'll be able to clear anything up.
  • Crackmacs reply I'm not pissed at vidme =D
  • [ – ] CiraxAMV reply #nsfw in the title, description etc
  • UndeadTurning reply Vidme doesn't interest me unless there's a thumbs down feature so bad video creators will know they fucked up.
  • PrincepsComitatus reply Vidme needs some time to mature as a platform.
  • unluckygamerguy reply On the hot page VIDME should have sort tabs. View count, Thumbs up, date added.
  • [ – ] bennitori reply By DJ Mu3l's logic, many of the greatest internet content creators wouldn't be allowed to make content anywhere because they were already big on other sites. Should Egoraptor have been banned from Youtube because he was already on Newgrounds? What about Weebl or SexuaLobster, who were (and still are) huge on Newgrounds? Should Neil Cicergercia not have been allowed to make Potter Puppet Pals because he was already famous on Albino Black Sheep and Something Awful? (under the name Lemon Demon) This idea that small creators should be immune to competing with big creators is short sighted. Back during the golden age of Youtube, small Youtubers still had to compete with Nigahiga and Smosh. But we still had a chance of growing an audience while the nigahigas and smoshes got to have their own audiences. What changed is that the algorithm stopped allowing competition and continued to funnel views to the big names *exclusively* instead of offering discovery options. Nobody is going to get to t...morehe front page overnight. Not back then, and not now. The idea that we shouldn't allow already successful people onto other platforms is incredibly self serving. On TheuleansPerspective's view, maybe we could have "top overall" for big channels, and "top under 1,000 follows" or an "up and coming" for smaller channels. That way nobody feels betrayed for not having big videos on trending, and smaller channels still get discovery options. duffy already mentioned this, and it sounds like a great idea. I see TheuleansPerspecitive's point, but it's a bit far on the spectrum than I think small creators would be comfortable with.
  • [ – ] Brologic_Productions reply This is a nicely balanced video on the topic thanks for making it. I wasn't expecting something with nuance, and I'm pleasantly surprised. Glad to have ya here. Now first with the "hot" and picks sections of vidme. If I'm wrong may the devs correct me. I mean looking at it now I still don't understand it. Hot, to my knoweldge, is the videos treading are decided by engagements (ie upvotes, comments) that degrade over time so new videos would appear. Picks are picked by the vidme staff, so what might be happening is that the staff picks are getting a lot of engagements thus they're showing up twice. I suppose an arguement can be made that things that show up in pick can't appear in the trending, but I'm not sure if that's the best way forward. Also with NSFW, it says in the community rules page that if you put NSFW in the title that should mark your videos as such. I've never tried it though, I don't know how it works. It would be nice to see being able to report a NSFW video without ...morethat title and let the vidme team make the final call and currently you can't with reporting is only for the harshest of rule breaking that would remove the video. That's not necessary in every case. There's a discussion to be had here of what counts NSFW in the light of Dj's video, I just fear that we might make the same mistakes as youtube currently is.
  • Rawman reply I commented on someone elses response video to mu3l that people seem to have not realised that what he said was felt by a lot of small creator's who will never taste the life of trending etc. He was the voice of a lot of people. On the other hand i feel a lot of people are scared to voice their opinion too sometimes because they are scared they will be blacklisted by friends or the vidme team.
  • MrJoelDee reply Yeah, all you have to do if your content is more "adult" themed, is put NSFW in the title, and apparently it won't show up for just anyone to see. I don't know if this works 100% as I don't produce that kind of content, but it's how it's SUPPOSED to work.
  • PUREGAMINGDNA reply Brilliantly thought out analysis with some really thought provoking ideas for the channel. Come on Vidme, lead the way with innovation and courage. 👌😀
  • [ – ] gamingandtech reply I moved from youtube after I got angry at the bullshit going on at youtube and started a vidme channel but now I kind of realize that slowly vidme may make some shit algorithms and ruin their platform many sites were ruined after some time so the owners would make more money by ads and stuff like that.
    • rebellious_bee parent reply That's part of the problem. Who do you listen to? The people actively giving you money or the people that claim they won't give you money until you change something.
  • [ – ] Boobe2007 reply They told me to put NSFW in the title
  • hockeyknight reply Fantastic and well produced video about a complex issue that is been burning me for the shorter while that I've been here too. It's incredibly difficult now to get people to watch your content or participate even with the "playing by the rules" behaviors. I made a video earlier today about how upset I am about how this website isn't what it's billed to be. I hope you can take a peek at it (and at my regular content) at your own time. Regarding the "video response" thing that you started out with, I remember that little gimmick on youtube and enjoyed it. However, it was also another tool for people to game the system by glaming off of bigger youtubers to get their channels noticed. I saw people posting response videos to videos with content that had nothing to do with the original video, but that's how they were able to game the system too. If Vidme can do something like that and make sure vids weren't spamable with their replies... then I'd be all for it! :D
  • Coastermaker reply Dude, you have predicted ONCE AGAIN the downfall of Vidme.
  • bracerjack reply Thank you for expressing what I am feeling. I have been uploading truly educational high quality videos and I have thousands of views in YouTube reaching almost a million in total, but in Vidme, I was not even trended once, NOT EVEN ONCE. I am starting to think I might be wasting my time here. Like Seriously. I might just stop uploading.
  • TheShadowHatter reply Glad this video exists and from one of my favorite YouTubers too. I hope Vidme starts pumping out changes in the future to help the little guy grow. I came here hoping my channel and my web series would be watched, loved, and appreciated more by the community here at Vidme, but unfortunately I don't see much interaction and at most I get 2 likes on a video with around 20 views where as YouTube I get more likes and views total. I just want people to see the content I make and be entertained by it so seeing someone like you address the staff in this video really made me feel like change is going to happen sooner and for the better. I can't wait for Vidme to continue growing and evolving and I hope one day it'll help me and my channel grow and eventually build my own community of people who enjoy underrated games and other gaming content. Thanks again for the vid Jim! fucking seriously man!
  • Aaronshy reply I think when I tried to get verified from what I read it seems you put NSFW in the title but otherwise it's confusing.
  • nodetact reply As of my post, your video has an exact 5:1 upvote:share ratio... Nice! As for something relevant for me to say, this is by far one of the best examples of constructive and even controversial criticism done right, and as a result you have become yet another one of my followed content creators but that is surely a compliment for you. How you keep your composure and style like how I am infinitely patient and resourceful must be doing a number to Vidme lmfao! C;
  • MysticChicken reply Its people. the site is growing to fast for the programmers to catch up.
  • Canadian_Consumer reply I agree that bigger channels don't need the same attention. I don't know about everyone else, but the people I follow passionately... I will find their videos, whether that is here or on YouTube. It's not hard, it's in your "follows" and "subs" or if you just go to their channel. It's the smaller channel that needs the promotion, until they too get a big following. Or how about you do both, Trending and Trending new? I don't know, seems better imo.
  • InvestorsHangout reply I've been uploading videos here since last year and have never been "featured" or "trending" probably because my content is a niche topic and is really helpful for those only researching the Stock Market. YouTube obviously has a much larger audience that is interested in my videos rather than here on Vidme but it's growing. I've watched this site just continue to blow up but I must say this is exactly how all major sites are including my site. Thankfully here the staff actually listens to their members and that alone is rare. Making this video was a really good idea to voice your opinion this way the staff can hear back from their members instead of them just leaving without saying a word. Honestly, Vidme took on a giant and they are really gaining ground and will only get bigger because of you and others sharing their opinions. Nice job on the video and for someone not to concerned with video quality I personally think you did a great job and mic quality was really good. Sometime too ...moremany cuts make it seem to unreal. Just my opinions. - David
  • Someguy827 reply Vidme is still growing so there's a lot that can added over time. Obviously its not going to be YouTube2.0 overnight lol. That said, I find it ironic many large companies are coming here that aren't being affect whatsoever by the ad boycott. It almost seems like they just see new waters to put their large ships merely to say "we're here now, deal with it".
  • Mantenner reply I've found that overall it's quite good, and while lacking in features compared to it's competitors such as YouTube, they've had much more time to get things optimized. Feedback like this to the Vidme staff I imagine is still crucial though as it allows them to prioritize what the community wants/needs. Here's to the improvement of this platform!
  • JaysTechTv reply i like vid.me but i do wish they made it more than 1024mb for a week to upload at least 3gb for a week for un-verified channels, 1 of my videos is already hitting 450mb-800mb :(
  • KingFredrickVI reply I've been preachin in the Discord for a while now that they need to add the video response to VidMe xD
  • Slanny reply is this the alternate reality of youtube? looks better!
  • AmateurBellyDance reply I'm pissed too. lol
  • Naturenerd1000 reply Did You Know Gaming is a good channel. It's good to promote medium sized channels that make good content. They have earned the spot after years of consistently making high quality content and it's good to promote the site.
  • jasikpark reply I feel like a good option for NSFW search results without an account should work similarly to DuckDuckGo.
  • Wuffy reply Follow Me!
  • Ynotgolonac reply stage 6 will rise again
  • theoldsparrow reply That is a well measured response to what's going on. We do need more information about how these things work. Vidme has a lot of potential.
  • [ – ] AirBiscuit reply So will you be doing more vidme-only videos? I only came across this one by chance as twitter was my only way I followed you
  • GamingCentrum reply I miss Blip.tv
  • Eheroduelist reply I respectfully disagree that vidme staff should be forced to pick smaller content creators just because they're small. Maybe I'm just an asshole, but I'm of the opinion that a platform like this is a meritocracy; and staff should be able to like whatever they like (unless we're going to dictate as a community that staff are only allowed to like things we want them to like). While I agree that vidme staff should be transparent with algorithms and think more could and should be done to help smaller creators, shoving smaller creators to the top of the trending page and clawing at the heels of larger creators until they plummet to the bottom just isn't the answer imo. Any reason I claimed censorship on DJMuel's part is based on what he said in the video you mostly didn't include, which is the vibe I got from DJMuel's video and hence my response video to him- especially given his response video heavily centered around pushing down a particular content creator (and anything he deemed artist...moreically deficient and "not coming from the heart"). Overall a decent video though. Hopefully Vidme can strike a healthy balance without staining their reputation.
  • RenBlogger reply Thank you for this. I am nervous about the possibility of censorship and "algorithms". a Direct message from the creators telling us how it works would be really welcome.
  • Healthfu reply good video
  • JadeJicama reply I remember when Ricky Berwick videos were basically every other slot on the trending page, and now? He just seems to have disappeared. But you still get the odd Channel Awesome or Didyouknowgaming or whatever... big Youtubers.
  • Dapolite reply If I were Vidme and I wanted to expand my platform, I would be more than happy for people like Varg, Styx, Sargon and Stefan Molyneux to move to my page since they're the ones that will get the people on my page, gaming channels won't do that.
  • BrokenWrd reply Good Vid. DJmule had some good points but went off the deep end with the whinging about boobies and 12 year olds. I agree with the NSFW option on vids - or at least some explanation of it.
  • jahcmoney reply Very good video very informative
  • nexxtmediaguide reply The term is Vid.me-et-namese........,
  • nexxtmediaguide reply love that response video feature!!!!!!!
  • When_you_see_Caitlyn_Jenner reply Interesting video. I really enjoyed it.
  • [ – ] SimpleMan reply Vidme is still a bit of a clusterfuck. A bit.
  • Aboveup reply Holy shit, boh3m3 in the related videos in that YT screencap. I haven't seen that name in years.
  • ScaryStoriesNYC reply That British guy's rant is gross and woman-hating. I watched those videos he rants about and they're not porn, they're just videos by female humans and that British guy has a problem with women. I have a problem with him, should I rant in videos that he's porn? He's a gamer bully, why do we need them on vid.me? Aren't there enough of them on youtube? I have no problem with vid.me's hot page and honestly I wouldn't even care if there were porn, I'm not sex-negative like some of the prudes online. This is just getting upset for the sake of getting upset and to try to scapegoat other creators who create things different than your stuff.
  • omegajim reply I agree with the video reply option. Also, both of them bring really good points. I want to see VidMe grow, and I hope we can get things figure out.
  • [ – ] Waysidecomet64 reply How do I down vote the video?!
  • [ – ] mathphysicsnerd reply I have what is maybe a weird view on this idea: it's for the best that the way that videos get trending, aside from having a generic higher amount of activity than most is unknown. The moment someone does figure out the system, they'll find a way to game it. If the only reliable way is to just get a lot of activity (a lot of views, comments and thumbs) that will improve the video quality on here in general. Also, I agree Jim, video responses should be a thing on here.
  • MFKraven reply great video, im sure Vidme is giving a bit of a preference to bigger youtubers just so we as smaller content creators have a broader audience, i have faith they wont do us wrong. but i understand that sometimes, it just is what it is
  • TheModernHermeticist reply Polarized gonna polarize
  • CiraxAMV reply vidme was better a year ago.
  • [ – ] SamEarl13 reply Quite a good video discussing some people's complaints. Bigger YouTubers coming here isn't annoying on its own but ones that barely ever reply to comments are considering this site is built around being a community.
    • MisterMetokur parent reply Yeah I've noticed a lot of pump and dump content delivery going on. I think it'll change as time goes on and people grow more comfortable and used to the website.
  • WolfandRaptor reply this is true. if there is an open and clear set of ground rules for how it all works displayed outright there is much less to complain about. but then again its also true that it's a balancing act and basically a shit show lol. but featuring small creators with quality content should always be the focus on vidme. if they want to stick to their claim of being the most creator friendly.
  • RodentWithARifle reply Video responses were amazing way back when. The only problem I can see arising with them being implemented on Vidme would probably be a new generation of response girls popping up. Also to tag things as NSFW, I'm think you have to go into your description and add a #NSFW tag, I'm not certain - but I know that's at least how you tag things normally.
  • Snarly55 reply Edgy man...
  • YouHaveBadTaste reply I think that you're a bad goy Jim. This site should shut people like you down!
  • galwaybeard reply Some good points here. Lots of change happening on the site. I can only imagine the staff hours as the site expands.
  • woltros reply STOP WATCHING VIDME
  • JonVoight reply If you choose to ever make your own service, here's some things you could potentially use: GNU Social for a Twitter-like service (Fuck Mastadon and the Jewish Gab) and Goblin Refuge (A software front-end for video uploads). Hopfully you won't get to that point.
  • Trap_Luverz reply Great video! 💙 #MakeErrbodyHappy
  • joober reply Clearly they have real people picking their faves as the trends. This is better for avoiding click bait but harder to avoid bias. That would explain why their thinking of switching to automation.
  • Brettkeanevideo reply Great video. I also made a video offering ideas here https://vid.me/VRRE
  • TmibTulelo reply I was just messing with the settings. I don't even see how is something turned on and off. There is gray and if it turned the other way it's darker gray. What does this means? Which one is the on? The light gray or the dark one? :-O The other problem is the language. It's not sorted, so if I go to the trending page, many of those videos are not even in English. It's kinda sounds wrong if people say he is going to get censored by the topics he talks about.
  • Libertas_Est_Immortalis reply I entirely agree with this video and a lot of what is being said. Really have to say, if Vid.me follows this advice I have to say it has an opportunity to be something a lot more than "just another YouTube."
  • GhostKeepGaming reply I myself just started an account on Vidme and I've been on Youtube for about Two months now so I can't say much. But I do agree with finding a balance between both the major Channel names and the little channels who are on this site. As it is nice to see big name channels promoting the site but for a smaller channel like myself it really takes something away from the equally hard work they put into their videos. By the way this was a great video.
  • Cervantez reply Hi, I remember stage6 and I was really dissapointed when it went down. I look forward to see the monopoly of google broken, for all our sake.
  • Broomfondle reply Yeah this site shows a lot of promise but right now a lot of things make no sense at all to me
  • JeanCasagrande reply Yeah this sucks, we all know how the deep policies works with censorship and such. Also, I could not upload video using my phone, dont know why, it was taking forever to upload, I left it loading and went to sleep, in the morning it was back on 0%, só fk it, I dont have time for this crap, I barely started using it and Im leaving it behind.
  • Vermonster reply This was a issue months ago right after Dave seaman come over here.
  • Admiral-Preapredness reply I'm a virgin to this and what heck is NSFW.....I got brought here by a person who wants their First Amendment right to be expressed with no PC shit interfering with it.
  • Nate reply You: "I dont care about being on the trending page" VidMe: "lol, we made you currently number 1 trending video on VidMe" Great vid!
  • Oatworks reply Until a video response feature is added, a video link can be posted with a hashtag such as #VideoResponse, to implement the same result. This could also be used to implement other types of responses, such as #PictureResponse or, idk, #WebgameResponse. Responding with a small, text-only interactive fiction work would take about as long as responding with a quality video.

  • Garjahn reply You know what would be nice? If you're going to have upvotes on comments and videos, you should have downvotes on them as well. There's no reason not to be able to tell someone you dislike something they've made. And i don't mean like youtube where downvoting a comment actually just flags it at "controversial" and shoots it to the top of the comment section. If a comment is downvoted 40 times because everyone thinks it's retarded, it should disappear somewhere at the bottom, not shoot to the top.
  • JackBurton reply I agree, those direct response videos are vital to have an interactive relationship with your viewers.
  • TigerClawTV reply Thanks for explaining the situation. When I first got here, the first thing I looked for was if video responses were available. Still no luck.
  • sequorrox reply Big names will draw more users to the site, making it more popular in the long run. Right now, that will hurt less popular creators. Later, it will be good for them as well(unless and until vidme does the same corrupt shit google does).
  • DippnDonuts reply Youtube removed video responses for a reason, people abused it to get views, most of the time nasty stuff would be put into video responses.
  • DippnDonuts reply Youtube removed video response cause people kept abusing it, it was some peoples ways of getting views off of youtube.
  • JoeyArnoldVN reply Vidme staff, when we upload videos to vid.me, can we tag it or mark it or make it adult only or adult content or mature content for older audiences? If not, can we have that? Can we expand upon more features?
  • StrikeRaidUnion reply Video responses would be great for contests and competitions. Also i kinda think that lately its the same creators in the trending and hot section. Almost every creator on vidme makes excellent content and deserves to be noticed. But dont get me wrong i love uploading on vidme all in all its a great site so far.
  • maize2 reply You CuckPhobic biggoted Shitlord.
  • Nicky_ reply I recognize your voice and mic.. Did you do the Tumblrisms videos? If not, forget I asked. Other than that, you bring up some good points. I have been here for a while, but I haven't really uploaded much because I keep running short on production time, so I have about as much experience with this site as you do. Every time I login, I see something different about vidme, whether it's what's currently trending, options in the settings menus, or even on how you upload. That video response thing is something that seems really cool. I wish I had internet back then.
  • GoMGTOW reply ... AND THIS IS THE SPECIFIC REASON WHY MY "GO MGTOW" CHANNEL HAS BEEN PUT ON HOLD! Vidme has never clarified their stance on political commentary and editorial channels like MGTOW. Thus their silence speaks through a loud speaker that they are in fact DISCRIMINITIVE against conservative and anti-gynocentric political and societal views. That tells me that Vidme is in fact LEFT LEANING. I'm gonna post a video soon, and it's gonna cut Vidme to the bone when I do coz I have every intention on calling out this LEFT LEANING platform on their bullshit. I very much expect it to be removed.
  • Hammerheart reply Don't fuck with Varg!
  • Babbleplay reply Meh. New here as of a couple months, and done almost NO advertising of my new channel publicly, but I've gradually gotten a trickle of subs over time MUCH faster than it started on youtube. I'm not complaining much, here.
  • NoneofYourBusiness reply Want to compete with YouTube? Then mimic them in every way except the censorship crap! I see Vidme are censoring videos already, this is why I do not support them in any way. I hardly come here anymore...
  • chop_suey reply Too many vloggers, not enough entertaining/weird/funny/informative videos that formed YouTube's grassroots. The only thing I'm happy to see so far that reminds me of the early YouTube days are the plethora of amateur animations.
  • Sectual reply I got Duffy deep off in my soul.
  • The_Cyborg reply You hit the nail on the head. Putting my thoughts to words/video
  • TVG_GameZ reply if you write NSFW before the title it will be NSFW labeled
  • TVG_GameZ reply i recently had an issue with VIDME regarding a TON of my videos....risky games.....i had to remove all 40 videos or else i can't be re-verified.
  • KaiserTrigger reply It's nice to see you're here too. Can't let any site go without someone to kick it into gear if it goes the "youtube" way. AKA Google's way.
  • Callie97 reply Thulean was proven wrong already
  • Hoplopfheil reply I think the content discovery is still kind of lacking in VidMe. But I think the culprit might be that there isn't enough content yet for users to really trust the search feature (on YouTube if you search for literally anything you know you'll find something to watch). OR if there just aren't enough viewers yet to really supply a lot of search interest. Either way it seems like the easiest way to get exposure on VidMe is to be outrageously controversial, or import your existing audience from YouTube. That will probably change organically with time.
  • GG_GuyT reply I came here because I had faith in Vid.me, I really like the connection with the staff on how if you have a problem you can just contact them but I still havent been featured at all, and the reason I liked vid.me was because they featured not known people, then I started seeing popular youtubers being featured but I just kinda shrugged it off and just thought that maybe my content wasent good enough to be featured. vidme is still great but I did think it was ridiculous that they were featuring already popular people.
  • clidefrog reply WTF do people assume that a social media system would use a simple algorithm like "likes A > likes B". Do you idiots have any idea how much math and thought goes into this shit? I promise you, if they laid out the formula you'd still be to fucking dumb to understand the math, so how about you stop guessing whats in the black box? If your complaint is "this has less likes, why is it higher" they you are automatically disqualified for stupidity. It doesnt say "most liked" it says "trending".
  • SpaceFish reply Im lovin not having to use You/screwed anymore
  • ChazDragoon reply honestly...i don't pay attention to the "trending/hot" page, since it's a gateway to madness. I pay attention to how many people watched the vid and comments. I get those increase if they were on the trending/hot pages but, really, i feel if i focus on attaining those pages i'll grow insanely pissed off and lose the drive to make videos at all. But..that's me. *shrug*
  • themillennialrevolt reply Vidme is a great platform and it has room to grow I remember when they first started the politics and news category and my videos were trending in that category now the aren't no big deal give it some time
  • RobertCardwell reply is Vidme censoring politically incorrect videos? I don't care about the trending feature. All I want is somewhere to upload my videos to, and I'll take care of my own notification via other social media.
  • Crashie-J reply I would like to be on the Trending page... When?
  • JustAnOpinion reply Very interesting video!
  • ComicConReviews reply VidMe is the new dailymotion kek.
  • The_Eldritch_Bee reply I love vid.me so far, however I would love to see the app get background play. I've only been here for about a week, but I feel vid.me has a lot of potential.
  • Jimthethird reply Very good video. I hope this video continues to grow to compete with YouTube. I'm still trying to get more comfortable with it, but I like how it is set up so far.
  • reluctantvidmeuser reply I opened the app and this is literally the first thing I am seeing.
  • JackTheRipoff reply At the end of the day, Vidme is still a young a growing site, there is still a lot of things they need to work out. As someone who has been on the site for quite a while and has been personally called out in one of the biggest issues vidme has had in the past, i understand there are things right now that need to be addressed, and the team really is working as best they can to get to those issues. I also understand that in come cases they will always get some form of backlash because hey, you're not going to please every single person. But at least for right now, we have to understand that getting pissed and cussing at a rather small team running this site isn't really the way to handle things.
  • SquirrelHound reply AUTISTIC SCREECHING!!!!
  • chrishazfun reply Personally I think the generic Trending Feed (front page) should be removed and replaced with small trending feeds of each category. This would allow Vidme to start showing political videos on the front page again.
  • ThomasPattonMusic reply Wait, how the hell do you have a category tab? I can't tag my videos by category, and I thought that it was just automatically done.
  • shamkoze reply wow, this is the most controversial vidme video
  • Mystic_Poet82 reply YT is more fair in allowing channels to get verified. I didn't break any rules on here, and all the content IS mine, even if I did upload some from my YT channel. I was still denied and it's very offensive to someone trying to get their work noticed, poetry takes time and patience and the right inspiration to be just right. I know I'm far from perfect, but I have a low confidence level because of my past and could use any help possible to boost it.
  • bononoz1 reply I'm in the mic crew with you dude, but we all need promotion, you need better treatment, I need better treatment, we all need better treatment, front page needs an explanation.
  • spookyboo reply I loved that video response on YouTube. Oh no. If vidme is getting politically correct then I'm gone.
  • pokematic reply I found this on the front page. It was the first video there, lol.
  • Bea_Smith reply It is all Sargon's fault!
  • blizergy reply I never seen this type of videos
  • kaga11 reply go to the settings and scroll down and put nsfw
  • g0bkF7Ss reply Would putting NSFW in your category make that work?
  • Tecseiryu reply Can or will you make a video make a video for the people who are wanting to become a video creator? Tips and advice?
  • TheDebraSanchez reply I log into VidMe and see that one of Jim's videos is trending. This should be good.
  • [ – ] Misogynazi reply Theulean is a trad con cuckservative blue pill mangina simp.... Has anyone here seen his video on Jewtube where he tries to shame tactic MGTOW with the old line "you go your own way, that just leaves more cunts for me to fuck" ?.... Hilarious!..... Like there's now a long line of 21 year old bare-breasted super models queuing up behind his truck just waiting to get in and fuck a fat old beta with a dirty grey beard, and it's all thanks to MGTOW. By the way, Vidme is now growing because Jewtube is committing suicide with censorship.... The CEO of Jewtube is a woman, in fact a jewish woman, a feminazi jewish woman. The lame-stream media is running scared, television is dead, newspapers are dead, the globalist gyno-capitalist femtard establishment are terrified (especially since Cunton got Trumped) so they are now doing everything they can to destroy internet free speech.... but it's too late to stop us, the genie is out of the bottle, the horse has kicked down the stable door and b...moreolted. Death to censorship! Death to femtards! Death to manginas! Long Live Free Speech! MGTOW For Life!
    • VukMUS parent reply Whatever points you are making that may be valid are being ruined by your blatant Anti-Semitism.
  • InvertedReality reply This is such a great response/summary of both videos, bravo! keep up the good work man!
  • Kimota reply Vidme seems to be such a nice place, but the only problem that I've is the video player, All videos are slow to load or do not load at all, I'm the only one with this problem?, let alone to watch a video in 480 or something more.
  • [ – ] RedPillTV reply Does anyone know why they don't verify some accounts? although I have seen verified accounts with zero uploads
    • Eheroduelist parent reply I can't help but imagine that it's just that there's people trying to handle the bulk of people applying by hand. As someone that's not a member of the staff though, I can't guarantee you an accurate response.
  • Good_News_This_Morning reply Interesting video. The British meaning of your video title is "everyone at Vidme is drunk" - perhaps that would improve things?
  • AdachiTohru reply I just hate the fucking clickbait that's on YT. That shit is starting to come over here.
  • Critical_Thinker reply It does seem as though it's the same creators that tend to be on top, no matter their subject matter, it could look as if they are playing favorites.
  • SupremeSugi reply If you gonna kick out the "Skeptic community" or try censor them they are just gonna go back to youtube or minds. This is perfect chance for vid.me capitalize on huge audience and creators that don't have it that well on YT. Either you are freedom of speech platform or you are not and vid.me hasn't been that transparent on their stance on that.
  • TomShaer reply Holy shit, is that Varg Vikernes in the second vid?
  • [ – ] CuneiformHub reply I call people on vid.me vidmites.
    • [ – ] KotaTail parent reply Well it sounds good but people are known as vidizens on the website according to vidme lol
      • CuneiformHub parent reply I remember the "vote" on reddit. I can be a dissenter, can I not? Vidmite > Vidizen But in all honesty, I don't think it really matters what you call them.
  • [ – ] booyahcubes reply I totally agree with what DJ Mu3l said. All of these big YouTubers are coming to Vid.me for more money and exposure. I get that, fine, but they are already successful, they don't need to be on the trending page. Vid.me was slowly building its own community when all of a sudden, the +1 million sub YouTubers just came over and took over. It's really not fair to those that were here earlier on trying to build that community. And holy shit, is that Varg Vikernes talking about YouTube? What?
    • [ – ] Eheroduelist parent reply Eh. The problem with that logic is that if and when smaller vidme creators become those big creators, are you just as happily going to kick them down for the sake of smaller creators again? Where is the substantive career in content creation if you can be brought into the realm of financial stability just to be kicked down into obscurity because smaller creators are upset about how big you are? These YouTubers are mirroring over because YouTube is doing that to them and Vidme promises to take care of them much better. If Vidme can hold true to that promise and still maintain a standard that YouTube structurally is capable of maintaining because Google is a huge corporation, why wouldn't vidme become bigger than YouTube? Wouldn't you want someone who is willing to help grow your community? Why do we have to see large YouTubers as outsiders and competitors when they're contributing to vidme as much as many others on the platform? I just don't see a good outcome as a result of actions tak...moreen with these reasons being the primary motivators.
      • booyahcubes parent reply Yep. All totally valid points, and it makes sense from a business standpoint. Sometimes sacrifices have to be made in order to grow a business.
  • MultiKillerjoe reply personally i think we could do without the political videos i am a gamer and one of the guys you showed was on about how there should be more of people doing videos like him and how there should be less us on videos tbh i think there should be all types of people on vidme not just people that talk about politics.
  • [ – ] Andoeriz reply Is that Varg Vikernes?
  • Eilytres reply I was trying to find about NSFW but no one had replied. Here's what you do : You name your video for example [NSFW : TITTIES] and there will be a nsfw text over your video. I've done it in a few of mine where I felt like I've been showing just a tad to much skin. It's not the best solution and I'd rather there would be some kind of button.
  • holmesadamsama reply I'm not sure if anyone has pointed it out but in the Vidme terms it says to put NSFW in the title of the video to put it under the NSFW category, if someone has already said that then sorry for repeating, I didn't really want to read all of the long comments XD
  • praetoriancorps reply This is why you have a tab called NEW?
  • doughboii_rocks reply Idk if I like this platform every one talks smack about YouTube and it sucks the way we are going to grow if we stop talking about YouTube
  • [ – ] ArbiterAbaddon reply Well, here is the problem. That DickHeadMu3l guy bitches about everything under the sun. He just wants everything to have sensorship and Vid.me Affirmative Action for him because he's an SJW cunt who gets butt hurt at everything he doesn't get. Fuck that dude. The other guy is using deductive reasoning and wondering why. That is different. I watched the videos one is, as the titles says, a rant (more of an emotional rant without facts) and the other is a guy trying to deduce why his content is disappearing and draws a conclusion on a basis of facts. Way different. In essence, one is a whiny childish bitch whp wants his way and the other is genuinely wanting to know.
    • [ – ] bennymountain1 parent reply I don't know how much you know about "the other guy", but he's been clown for years. These two isolated vids may make sense to you, but the rest of his life is fucked up insanity of his own doing. I can't take anything that comes out of his mouth seriously anymore.
      • [ – ] ArbiterAbaddon parent reply If that is indeed true then this guy who make this video wasted his time with two morons opinions who shouldn't matter.
        • [ – ] bennymountain1 parent reply I guess he just addressed their points while having to look past their controversial personalities. JIM IS BETTER THAN ME, I'M NOT WORTHY!!1
          • [ – ] ArbiterAbaddon parent reply Their controversial point are the reasons they made those videos. Saying he looked past them is like saying "he missed the point but he got that they're mad". As if being mad is all that counts. The reasons for someone's anger, in the first place, is what matter more to me than some other dude making a video about two polar opposites trying to say "they're both right". They're not.
            • bennymountain1 parent reply No, I mean he looked past their controversial background, which is what you said about dj3, or whatever ("bitches about everything under the sun") and what I said about Varg: autist not right in the head that cries oppression when people say his "blacks can't read" board game is shit and not fun to play. He was so scared once that he killed a man, just to be safe. That's why I wouldn't even bother listening to them because what they say is probably loon burble not based in reality in any way. Point of the video is to ask staff to explain what is really going on to prevent morons like these from raising a stink over shit they don't understand.
  • ThreeHeadedBoy reply I Agree. I feel a balance between popular stuff and newer/smaller channels would be the best way to do it. The trending/front page should also be human curated. As soon as you give an algorithm control, someone will learn how to game it.
  • Bushy_B reply LMAO at that title of a video which is ok to be featured Its Ok To FAP! with low cut top may as well had her tongue in the side of her mouth as well . lol I am 161 vids in and yeah I your right maybe I need to click bait more
  • MegaDPlays reply 100% agree with you Mister Metokur
  • Rancid_Hyenas_Gaming reply I really appreciate that you used both sides perspectives equally and gave an out-of-the-box and mutual theory. I can't help but agree with it. Right and wrong can and will vary based on the person. In truth, both sides are valid in this situation. It seems the silver lining here is with this whacky system, both sides are equally supressed and promoted as each other. Granted, it's still a system that seems to be more adjusted to appease the overall frustration of the situation.
  • ShadicTheReviewGuy reply I've seen those videos and honestly they have both points of view as I am slowly trying to do this as a job I still am working hard on not just having original ideas but also be myself on thoughts or opinions and it's not easy to do. However I plan to work hard as a content creator and hopefully I can succeed on vidme as a small content creator.
