http://www.vancesova.com Listen to my version of Czech folk song Pod Dubem, Za Dubem which in English translation means Under the Oak, Behind the Oak Tree. I sing and play the song on guitar.
The song is, as most songs are, about love. In this case it's about lost love to another guy. She was his until another guy came around and enticed her to himself. The abandoned lover overcome by sadness loses his zest for life, temporarily. He says: "I planted wheat but I'm not going to harvest it. I poured myself a beer but I'm not going to drink it. I got me a lover but another man enticed her to himself". The reason the abandoned lover's sadness and depressed state is temporary is that the song is lively and thus at the time of singing this he is back to having a zest for life and sings the song about what happened with a renewed hope.
As you listen to the song, you will be watching my video clips which I took last summer of a stork nest, a big tree and a cute dog. The video clips were all taken in the Czech Republic.
