Combat Shotguns: 20 GA # 3 buckshot patterns in 14" and 15" barrels
February 2 2017
This video demonstrates typical buckshot performance at 30 yards for 20 gauge 2 3/4" #3 buckshot fired from short barreled shotguns. A Remington model 58 with 14" barrel and a Winchester 1400 with a 15" barrel were fired to observe the buckshot pattern at 30 yards. Both shotguns featured true cylinder chokes (no constriction of the bore). Pattern size turned out to be approx 36 inches in diam. for both guns. Some variance in pattern density was observed between individual shots. The Winchester 1400 pattern struct at the point of aim. The Remington 58 pattern was observed to strike approx 2 feet above point of aim. Registered NFA short barreled shotguns were utilized for production of this video.
