    • [ – ] fredericojdp parent reply Thanks Jim, It is the traditional form of practice in jogo do pau, as you can see it is done at a moderate speed, and due to the nature of staff fencing, with wider motions than sword fencing, it is easier to control the strikes and avoid accidents. We practice like this all the time (with the intensity dependent on the skill of the weaker fencer), and when everyone is considerate, no accidents happen. But for full intensity, and contact, it is required full protective gear and even padded weapons. We also do that, but it would sadden me if everyone stopped practicing the traditional way as it has been done for centuries.
