  • [ – ] Lawborn reply Youtube has been a drag since 2012. It's taking a while for them to feel the impact of it but, I think it's starting.
    • Kirsty_J parent reply better late then never :), I think there will be a real difference in a few years on both of these platforms, but only time will tell XD
  • [ – ] Team_Xero reply YouTube is beginning to feel the consequences of it's decisions. I hope vidme takes over soon.
  • [ – ] TheRetiredTrucker reply Get the word out on youtube, let people know there is an option
  • [ – ] MrATAndreiThomas reply youtube are so corrupted, Their greed, their disloyalty, their dishonesty, their selfishness, their stupidity and their neglect to their small channels has stooped themselves even lower. Ever since google brought youtube in 2006 They do not care for the small channels as they left us in the dark and leave us nothing but restrictions. Youtube only looks out for the big channels, big corporations and celebrity endorsements, this has now pissing me off since 2009, the only thing that I am mostly furious about, is the fact they knew about the subscribing bug glitch as this has been going on since Spring 2012. I had over 10,000 subscribers and then it went down to over 7,000 subscribers and as I saw their video titled 'Let's talk about subscriptions' they deliberately beat themselves around the bush by telling us such bullshit when all they needed to do is make a view clarifications and be completely honest about the issue of the subscribing glitch, but instead they have proven to be lazy, ...morebone idol, manipulative and untrustworthy to us. Youtube only likes us users when we are on their platform kissing its ass, but I am here to tell you as it is, youtube is a piece of shit website full of corporate bullshit and greed, that's why I'm not returning back to youtube they really disgust me with their lack of inability And since I stopped posting videos completely on YouTube as I Left youtube at new years eve 2016, I just knew at some point to a degree they were messing up again and now karma just bit them on the back side in 2017. Fuck youtube, it is now dead, Vidme all the way.
  • [ – ] WolfandRaptor reply since we got onto vidme 3 days ago, weve had way more views per video than most of what we have on youtube. and we've been on youtube for a year with very little community... vidme just makes it so much easier. honestly trying to get anywhere on youtube is depressing.
  • [ – ] whos_statan reply The salt is real. They got spanked in the election and this is how they are waging war. Promotion of the mobile app is the most important thing to increase users
    • Kirsty_J parent reply yes, increase mobile app users be would be great and get more attentions that there another choice for a video platform then YouTube :)
  • [ – ] BloodMoonGaming reply Great People here on vidme
  • [ – ] zugzs reply Very well out together. I agree with you 100%
  • [ – ] E_Yow reply It'd be a lot better if I could get the vids to run.
    • Kirsty_J parent reply Yes, vidme needs to improve how they upload video, but I do like there many different choice on how to upload a video :)
  • [ – ] innocent1akamaru reply Thanks for making the video by the way it created a great conversation debate that could last a long time as vidme changes overtime to someday overpower youtube. (added this cause forgot to thank you and kinda went straight into debate mode lol)
  • [ – ] innocent1akamaru reply I prefer vidme because it has a better community and isnt all about doing whatever it takes just to make more money even if it affects viewers and uploaders in difficulties including immature posts on videos, video being removed for stupid reasons without getting sent an actual reason why it was removed by YouTube, and all the mainstream ads that pretty much make it more difficult to see the videos you love by your favorite uploaders. I don't really want to bring up the problems vidme has because its barely a year old, but YouTube had been up for years recieving reports on the problems they have, and still havent really gone through a lot of them and replied to people asking for extra info if it is needed then tried to fix it, though i do know there are tons of fake or repetative reports they have to go through. By now though they have had years to hire workers to go through reports.
    • Kirsty_J parent reply agree with you competently so many people on YouTube that post just to make money then to create quality content, yes vidme have a few probelms but it still in it early stages of development and in a few years i'll think these problems will be removed.
  • [ – ] Billy-Hard-Core777 reply I concur, and tbh, youtube has basically committed suicide, and has $$$sold out$$$....
  • [ – ] ThomasBeirne1965 reply Nice I viewed it a second time just to make sure I heard all the details very nice.
    • Kirsty_J parent reply Thank you :), it be crazy for views and comments I didn't honestly expect to get this many, since this is quite a average debate on vidme XD
  • [ – ] ThomasBeirne1965 reply Nice video. my name is "Thomas Beirne" I am thinking of coming over to this i heard from a friend that it would be more of a fit.My main video is titled "patriotic Canadian" it is me donating 1600 worth of Made in Canada clothing.Because of the rules brought in on the first of the year because of the EU
    • Kirsty_J parent reply thank you and your friend is right as vidme is friendly then YT, especially to smaller channels. your video sounds great :) will have a look later :)
  • [ – ] BibleandBlues reply I love Vidme, I'm really hoping they'll get the live streaming thing going soon! That's where I see the big difference at this point. AdSense is turning to crap before I'm big enough to really make any money and it proves how fragile that system really is. Fan based funding is the way to go I think. I have way more engagement here than anywhere else and I love it.
    • [ – ] JohnnyAppleseed2 parent reply Youtube is showing just how mercenary they are. They are totally catering to the biggest, most established content providers and they're pushing the little guys out of the way and placing restrictions on them if they think it will gain them more revenue. Like Steven Crowder says, they are a business and they have a right to do want they want, but that doesn't change the fact that they're a bunch of assholes. Excuse my language, Bible, but I'm so tired of the "politically correct" thought police.
      • Kirsty_J parent reply couldn't agree with you even more, I totally understand that it a business so they can do what they want, but placing restrictions to not even give the little people a change is crazy. like it crazy when i see bigger channel putting copyright music in and not getting flagged or demonetization but if it was a little channel did it, it would get blocked.
    • Kirsty_J parent reply 100% agree, get such more engagement on vidme then YT especially for smaller channel as well :D
  • [ – ] Rawman reply Very balanced discussion unlike a lot of the other discussions there has been on this topic. I feel you on the benefits of the community here vs YouTube but spam still happens here and a lot of people comment on your video without watching it all. It's frustrating but obvious when someone does it, there is a few simple formulas. *Reads title, agrees with title* comments. "Yes everything you said was on point" or "Nice video, i like this section, keep it up". Seems to be generic comments with motivation of self promoting instead of feedback lol The feature page is great here. I like that they support the creators with that. Being able to see the metric from the outside of a video is fantastic i agree. The unfortunate thing is YouTube don't listen to feedback. Even as simple as us pressing "not interested" they don't listen ever.
    • [ – ] Kirsty_J parent reply thank you, I think I should of given a few more pro benefits on YT over vidme, But I might do a part 2 as by chatting to people down here, a lot other points have been raised that I did not think off. Yes, 100% agree that you can tell a spam comments from a real comments. as on YouTube 9/10 it would be that kind of fake comment
      • [ – ] Rawman parent reply Tbh as bad as it might sound. The only true real benefit is the community in my opinion. Regardless of how good the service is with a bad community it means nothing. So for me vidme wins simply on community alone. Yeah spam comments are too much on YT. Lucky they got the spam folder haha!
        • [ – ] Kirsty_J parent reply Yes, the spam box is handy on YT and the community is great on here, just this video is a good example, would never of got this on YT
  • [ – ] MisterHan2000 reply I'm not about to say Fuck YouTube yet, I still see some great videos over there. There is some clickbaity stuff, but not all that much, not even in the gaming community. That, and I'm part of an awesome group of people that know how to relax and have fun. That being said, I'm pleased with how Vidme is doing so far, what with the people that have shown interest in what I make, and the interesting things they make that I like. I think YouTube becoming a mainstream platform is the most likely/plausible outcome, but only time will tell for sure.
    • Kirsty_J parent reply 100% agree with you. I also think that its a smart move not to quite say goodbye to YT yet, since I still post on both, but if YT get any worse it might be time to go but only time will tell, like you said XD
  • [ – ] JoeyArnoldVN reply Thanks for the video. Very thoughtful. You are nice.
  • [ – ] Ms_K reply awesome video
  • [ – ] Allonicus reply https://www.minds.com/newsfeed/694997267081338883
  • [ – ] TuxedoedFox reply Love the video! I kind of hope it turns out how you where saying, where YouTube becomes the whole, TV like stuff, or new channels, things like that, and Vidme becomes well, like it is now but better! I have only been on Vidme for about a week or so and it's crazy! Videos like I used to see and enjoy, an none of the Youtube drama, how can you not love it!?
    • Kirsty_J parent reply Haha, totally agree, it's just makes sense really as all future plans for YouTube I've seen is TV related, I didn't notice till after I filmed but even my TV remote has a button that will take you to YT, sooo.... XD
  • [ – ] ElCidDos reply Besides tips, how are people making money on vidme?
    • [ – ] BibleandBlues parent reply I think that crowd funding style is the way to go over advertising. I'm thinking about a Patreon account. We all know the issues happening over on YouTube with advertising anyway.
      • JohnnyAppleseed2 parent reply The big moneyed, multi-national corps are pushing their agendas on Youtube and other big media.
      • Kirsty_J parent reply I think you right bibleadblues fan funding is the way to go but to EICiDos vidme may add some thought of motorization platform when it gets bigger but only time will tell if they do that, and if they do i hope they learn from YT mistakes and do not do the same things as YT has done as for YT that has been a big problems over the last few years is how they controlled monezation
  • [ – ] ElCidDos reply Without freedom of speech, any platform is shit regardless of the bells and whistles they offer. I'm conservative, but I think ALL people should be able to share their beliefs regardless of who gets offended. Human being survived millenia of fights to survive, I don't think hearing icky things we don't like will take us out.
  • [ – ] leornendeealdenglisc reply Vid.me is a return to what YouTube used to be.
  • [ – ] smoothcc reply It's a lot more laid back here at vid.me. I think it's because there are a lot less toddlers. Just my opinion.
  • [ – ] SharpeSpeed reply Fuck youtube! Had a good thing going!
    • Kirsty_J parent reply they did and they shoot them self in the foot, sad really but i hope vidme can learn from their error and become better than YT, would teach them a lessons for getting a bit to big for their boots.
  • [ – ] BrianAiya reply First of all welcome to the Vidme community! Secondly, i agree with you, the engagement here is way better than YT. YT is better in technical matters like analytics and having so many tools. However the creators and community is the most important foundation in a platform. Vidme is lucky to have YT as a reference to take notes on what to do and not to do. Great video
    • Kirsty_J parent reply Hi and thank you and I totally agree with you about YT better with technical matters and vidme is lucky to be able to learn from YT mistakes, which will hopeful make vidme a even better platfrom in the long run. as I think vidme is till a diamond in the rough atm :)
  • [ – ] dalestark05 reply great video keep it up i upload to both
  • OnyxDigitalCommissions reply I here by dub the hasbeen broken down washed out Youtube officially as CorporateTube. :) It makes sense to exclude the "you" in "YouTube" and just replace it with "Corporate" thus, CorporateTube seems to suit them nicely. Maybe if we spread the term around the vidme community, it'll stick.
  • [ – ] ChaosPPE reply Yeah I feel like this as a smaller platform is a lot more engaging.
  • [ – ] Introvertican reply I Love vidme to a fault, but is there any down vote button😁...... just in case
    • Kirsty_J parent reply that true but it quite nice not having a down button, but i wouldn't be surprised if one in place in a few years :)
  • [ – ] 14M4N0NYM0U5 reply Youtube has been going downhill ever since Google aquired it. I hope the majority of people stop using it.
  • [ – ] JoroPurata reply You do realise that if YouTube dies out and Vidme takes over their place in the web that means that all the horrible people that used to be on YouTube will move here. Sure it might be good in the beginning but power corrupts and Youtube is just that powerful
    • Kirsty_J parent reply That a really good point, and your right. as their will always be people to destroy a good thing going, the best thing that we can hope to happen is vidme learn for YT mistake and do not repeat YT mistakes. A key thing that Vidme needs to do and will make vidme better then YT is to always keep the creator in the loop for what going on with there platform. :)
  • [ – ] 1chriscuthbertson reply I was never able to get any advertisement money from YouTube and they never ever replied to my questions, they got far too big for their boots, they treated their patrons like crap, also their NAZI censorship on freedom of speech whilst allowing all left wing mainstream crap was the final straw for me, also they just banned for 2 months a pal of mine who spoke out against corrupt governments and he was only telling the truth, so i think YouTube will fall and its their own fault, they sold out, YouTube also allowed and probably paid for the Trolls !, however i only joined VidMe a few hours ago and i think its great and i hope it trashes YouTube soon !
  • [ – ] cannotaccess reply Google actually forget what the original you part of YouTube is for.
  • [ – ] Lamedude reply Vidme wins in my opinion
  • [ – ] JohnE9999 reply Very thoughtful commentary. I enjoyed listening to it.
  • [ – ] OffTheAirLive reply I think vid.me improves everywhere were youtube has been lacking as of late. The tip feature is a genius idea to avoid the issue of having to appeal to both the audience and advertisers. I like the community aspect of it as well. Even though youtube had messaging system it didn't feel like individuals communicating. Maybe that's just because vid.me is not as big as youtube yet. Time will tell. But I'm really liking it here so far.
    • Kirsty_J parent reply vidme has some great feature but vidme is still small and in time it will grow bigger and bigger. since it started to now vidme has grow quite a bit and it will continue to grow. :)
  • [ – ] KayakuKaiju reply Hi Kirsty! You've got a little thing going on with the audio on this video, your R and L audio channels aren't synced. It's a little unnerving until I took my phones off of one of my ears. So... something to give some attention to in post for future ref. On topic, YouTube has the lion's market share and google money behind it, but that's where it ends. YouTube is getting really into censorship and punishing creators for wrongthink, and that was enough for me to decide to create content here instead. Very politicized. I'd rather be on a platform where people's ideas thrive or wilt on their own merit.
    • Kirsty_J parent reply thank for pointing that out, will keeps an eye in the future for audio for headphone users. I agree with you too. :)
  • [ – ] apolloness reply I'm optimistic about vidme, seems like a solid new platform.
  • [ – ] BrianIllustrator reply My suggestion for viewing Youtube is to save the "subscriptions" page to your bookmark. I never need to view the suggested page. Such a waste of time going there.
    • Kirsty_J parent reply that a good point, to keep on top of youtuber pages, but it remove the whole point of youtube having the suggestion page in the first place :)
  • [ – ] MagentaPixie9 reply Thanks, very helpful video, nice that you shared your observations. I have been on YouTube since 2008 I joined VidMe today x
  • [ – ] Barnard reply You're probably correct on the suggestion that YouTube will become a singular platform for mainstream media and the like. Will probably be a lot less hassle for them to have to regulate and check all the non-mainstream stuff that people upload, which is probably partly the reason for them making this move.
  • [ – ] chartv reply there is SUCH a bigger community on vidme than on youtube!! vidme reminds me of oldschool youtube, community is the key and ads are not. :) loved this video.
  • [ – ] MotherOfManyHorses reply I am new to Vidme. I found it because of 50 Ducks In A Hot Tub. I am trying to learn how to navigate this venue. I had 2 of my YT videos unmonetized as well, and I can't figure out why.
    • Kirsty_J parent reply that's suckss but YT shooting them self in the foot and in the long run, people will move to vidme and teach YT a lesson
  • [ – ] DevinSeviyn reply Due to recent events with YouTube, Vidme is becoming a breath of fresh air.
  • [ – ] BagelNet reply I agree, vidme has a dope community
  • [ – ] HeyRandy reply I pretty much agree and I'm slowly withdrawing more from YouTube despite the money I make in its platform. As a creator I prefer VidMe and its current community environment.
    • Kirsty_J parent reply Yes, the amount of money that can be made on YT, does keep that platform alive, but sometime the happiness of their content creator are more important, I think at the end of the day, that what will make it crumble as people will get sick of all the changes they don't inform their contents creator about
  • [ – ] ihate_stupidppl reply Just signed on to Vidme at the suggestion of 50 Ducks In A Hot Tub. You explained the difference very well and I thank you.
  • [ – ] MrSerious reply To be fair, the smaller number of content creators on vid.me means its' much easier for someone to become popular and noticed whereas because Youtube is omg huege its' impossible to stand out of the crowd. Keep up the good work!
  • Heyou-GetOffaMyCloud999 reply Censorship of freedom of speech is totally un-American. I could go on for hours, because this topic is so important, but to stay strictly to the question: "Is Vidme better than Youtube? At this point, Vidme is reputed to have less censorship than Youtube, mainly because they let people use swearwords. Big deal. We all know that is not the point. True freedom is freedom of ideas, not the freedom to use swearwords! Quite frankly, I don't think Vidme has had to deal with this question too much because up to this point, probably 90% or more of their "creators" have been gamers and people talking about what they've had for breakfast and very, very few content providers with serious news and/ideas. I think if enough users make the case to the people who run Vidme that they should allow absolute freedom of speech, that that is not unreasonable, it might work. Youtube has already decided to be a bunch of hardcore leftist dictators. Youtube's policies are the worst kind of facism.
  • [ – ] AvenueofIntrigue reply Vidme is great, and I like it, but I feel the platform is a little too different from YouTube. Unfortunately, I find that most people value familiarity over change. Vidme is better for me as a creator for sure. My channel is growing way faster here. My 2 cents ;)
    • Kirsty_J parent reply yes, vidme is different from YT and people don't like change, but sometime change is needed and vidme may be the change need for a video platform, especially for a creator :)
  • Kirsty_J reply Just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has watch, commented, share and upvoted, didn't expect this kinda of response so fast and I would like to keep replaying to people comments but will return in the morning as it's getting quite late in the UK and just wanted to say thank you and you guys are amazing and showing how great the community is on vidme <3
  • [ – ] SmartTheDumb reply vidme hates me
  • [ – ] screenfiends reply I feel like that everything I do on both channels is swollewed into the void of the forgotten to be honest. I'm a videographer and editor so am more comfortable behind the cam than in front so I know I have to work on my presenting skills but even so with little to no feedback I think all the work I put into my vids is verging more and more on pointless.
    • [ – ] Kirsty_J parent reply oh no is this on YT or vidme or both, but don't give up, as on YT i kinda felt like that but by not giving up and moving to vidme it shows that my videos where good but no one could find me on YT ass YT pushes it audience to mainstream channels.
      • [ – ] screenfiends parent reply I'm new to vidme, I thought I'd try it out as almost 3 years of YouTube has got me no where. I'm hoping that it will be different here but my channel is quite as a mouse at the moment. I filled out a servey for YouTube the other day and I mention how more and more they favour already established channels and corporate channels. The reason for this is due to ad revanue but they forget that the little guys keep them running. Great vid BTW. :)
        • Kirsty_J parent reply thank you, and 100% agree that YT care for established channel more then helping new channels that could be just as good as older channels, and forget the little channels help out more then they know. if you want to get more of a following on vidme have you tried verified your account? as that always seems to be a good way to increase a following, hope that's helps :)
  • [ – ] MrATAndreiThomas reply Fuck youtube and their stinking restrictions Bullshit.
  • pianoelectro reply I won't go into detail but here's what I can say: The best thing about Vid.Me is the lack of halted-metrics, censorship, and their transparency (immediacy). The worst thing about Vid.Me is their transparency (immediacy), censorship, and lack of halted-metrics. If you're utilizing this tool for a bit of rabble-rousing, even if completely within the bounds of the TOS, you'll find that there are some items occurring at the top-end of Vid.Me which are very YouTube-2007, which was more or less the beginning of their present demise. Policies, subjection, embargoes on some aspects of accountability etc. As for this "Verified" 'User' nonsense, this is a long running problem with all distribution entities in the so-called entertainment-sectors. They either (A) Don't want to filter as having every Tom, Dick, and Harry benefits their pocketbooks or (B) They filter in a manner that segregates their base. They should have just sold a low-cost package for the honor. It as well would have made ...morethe advertising easier/faster to launch. All that aside, who here is drinking Knob Creek/Rum Chata, simultaneously?
  • gridsleep reply Video channels are video channels. U2b always appears to have better buffering than the other services. Or it could be Google have a sneaky way of throttling other systems' video streams. I'll leave that to the conspiracy theorists and/or network analysis wizards.
  • DragonSkunk reply This is audio only? Nothing is showing.
  • [ – ] 420brian reply YouTube works with Internet Explorer VidMe does not ? why?
    • Kirsty_J parent reply hmm that good question, but I don't know why it doesn't work on Internet Explorer, maybe vidme needs to look into that. But Internet Explorer is a bit of a dead duck, as not many people use it anymore now
  • DaWeVi369 reply I wish I could cast
  • [ – ] FindingWonderment reply I really appreciated this upload. I don't really enjoy make-up videos, but the struggles of not finding validation with your content over view-count must be frustrating. I'm really glad that I've found this site, and from what I've seen I agree with you 100% about users. I feel as though the main issue with YouTube is that it's trying to be a cable provider focused on making profit over a platform of user-generated content made by users for users. This site is starting to bring a vibe of YouTube before 2006, which I find really welcoming. It has a Patreon or Twitch donation system, which is certainly a welcoming feature. You can be your own advertiser while keeping your original ideas, and this leads to top quality! I really hope this platform doesn't take the route which YouTube has followed. You're fantastic, @Kristy_J ! Keep up the good work! :D
    • Kirsty_J parent reply haha thank you, technically i don't enjoy make up video either, but i'm obsessed with nail polish, so it the closer ill ever get to make up tutorial with my nail art videos lol ;) , but I did think it was a worthy points since if vidme had a beauty category then more people may more over from YT to vidme. 100% agree that YT focus on profit to much the creator content :)
  • [ – ] DavidTeunissen reply Did ya say my nail channel or New channel!
  • [ – ] Mike_Digital reply Being a newer community it is of course smaller-but I think it is fantastic that there is an excellent alternative where free speech and creativity can flourish :)
  • CoolLeek-CoolLeek reply I'm new to VidMe, here's my channel, I make music :)--https://vid.me/CoolLeek-CoolLeek
Download the Vidme app!
