The Millionaire Fast Lane Book Club | Week 3 | Part 3 | Chapters 5, 6, 7, 8, 9
Hey guys, first off I'm very sorry for getting this weeks book club video out late. I was painting over the weekend and moved around an entire room and could not for the life of me find my book so it set me back a few days.
In this part or section we get into what a sidewalker is. Demarco stresses that being a sidewalker has little to do with the income you make. There are high income sidewalkers. More so it has to do with your behaviors and outlook on life.
A few of the ideas were that sidewalkers dont' have a financial plan and that being on the sidewalk is a gravitational pull towards being poor. He talks about how sidewalkers don't take responsibility for their own lives, they expect their company or boss or government to make their life better as opposed to taking control of their life and making it better themselves. He talks about how sidewalkers think that education ends at high school or college where as people on the fast lane are always continuing to educate themselves and be better.
This chapter touched on a lot of the personal finance habits of a sidewalker, to what a large extent is not having a plan period. He talks about how they trade long term stability and freedom for instant gratification in buying things.
To me this really tied in well with a lot of what Joe Rogan talks about with the "society trap" so I included a brief snippet of that as I feel it adds alot to this message and this chapter.
