  • [ – ] -Nikki-9- reply All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost. From the ashes a fire shall be woken, A light from the shadows shall spring; Renewed shall be blade that was broken, The crownless again shall be king. -- J.R.R. Tolkien
    • [ – ] SuomalainenMies parent reply I sit beside the fire and think of all that I have seen, of meadow-flowers and butterflies in summers that have been; of yellow leaves and gossamer in autumns that there were, with morning mist and silver sun and wind upon my hair. I sit beside the fire and think of how the world will be when winter comes without a spring that I shall ever see. For still there are so many things That I have never seen: in every wood in every spring there is a different green. I sit beside the fire and think of people long ago, and people who will see a world that I shall never know. But all the while I sit and think of times there were before, I listen to the returning feet and voices at the door.
  • VIAPECVS reply You touched on a very important matter. The images produced through imagination are akin to the symbols of our olden religions, and having imagination is a powerful key to reconnect us to a deeper understanding of reality as a whole.
  • [ – ] HyperboreanRenaissance reply Good morning
  • grahamburdick reply That's so funny, I have an essay on him to write... That I should be doing right now. Due in two days. Whoops, gotta go!
  • Nsswede reply Tolkien was Nordicist
  • maximilianfrazier reply I can't help but notice that you said "modern nihilism". What does that mean, and how is it different from "normal nihilism"?
  • Fraek reply Nice video. Cool pics, I had not seen those. Makes me want to go back and re-read the books. The text was too fast for me, however. I read at an average pace and I had to pause the video to read the longer text bits. 1-2 more seconds per text slide would have been better.
  • Calibri_Funtimes reply I often think about how my nerdy spark really came to life thanks to The Hobbit and later, Peter Jackson's films. How tragically ordinary my life would be without Tolkien. Thanks for sharing!
  • Grandad reply Lovely artwork in the video!
