Yes, I know the scene and the thumbnail are not of Salem but of Newburyport (that light in the background is from the windmill just off Route 1 by the MBTA stop and the Rotary). I ride the Newburyport Line to and from work in Boston. But I wrote much of this poem as the train approached Salem, which is a major stop along the route. That's the point, lol. Part of it. If I had one.
Considering how I wrote this—most of it on the train back at night—I think this is pretty good. Kerouacy.
Written and filmed on June 21, 2017. Not sure whether this will find its way into my forthcoming proposed collection. But it deserved a poemfilm. I know the video editing is not all as seamless as I'd hoped—but I think this works here.
This is more of a homebound commute poem, but it is July Fourth weekend, so it fits all you travelers out there.
