Here is the tune "Blackberry Blossom" on the fiddle! I learned this version of Blackberry Blossom from Craig Duncan in 2006 at the Rocky Mountain Fiddle Camp in mountains of Colorado. He is a great teacher and an amazing fiddler!
I found out that Craig Duncan has a YouTube channel:
Here is the website for the Rocky Mountain Fiddle Camp:
It's an amazing camp with fantastic instructors every year! It's also not just for fiddlers -- they have great classes for cello, viola, banjo, flute, tin whistle, dulcimer, and loads more! There's also tons of dancing--it's so much fun!
When I was a kid, I was a part of a fiddling "Kid's Jam," and we often played a simpler version of this tune. We played it so much that we would sometimes refer to our group of players as the "Blackberry Jammers" -- a fun play on words.
I think this tune tends to be played too fast, but whenever I try to slow it down I get called out for "dragging" it.. =( So here it is played super fast! Any faster, and I start to muddy it too much for YouTube..
I think tunes can only get so fast before they start sounding more like a crazy mess than a tune. It's fun for fiddlers to play tunes fast, but it's sometimes not the most enjoyable to listen to.. =P I think I might play it slower for another video--it can sound very pretty slow, and it also sounds nice as a hornpipe! Regardless, I hope you enjoy this version!
