So it's been a while since I did a long-ass write-up like this, but my hope is that this helps you understand the characters Krishna & Saiyam (#KriYam) better and see why I grew to love them (and hopefully get you to watch the show, because they deserve the love).
Saiyam, the complete opposite of his name--and rightfully so, is a pleasantly three-dimentional, volatile, and ('lest he admit it) vulnerable character. He treads the line of black and white very carefully, and truly is grey--like we all are. But being raised in an orphanage and growing up hating his mother can without question be detrimental to anyone's development.
A bit of background to any of you who don't watch the show (AND YOU TOTALLY SHOULD): Saiyam's father raped his mother, and that's how he was conceived. He doesn't find this out 'till much later and grows up believing his mom burned his dad alive because she was obsessively in love with someone else. As revenge he marries Krishna, to make his mother miserable. This goes hand in hand with the fact that Krishna is Soumya's daughter (Saiyam's mom's best friend) and was orphaned at a young age and raised by Saiyam's mom, who loves her very much. She was orphaned by Saiyam's father who killed her mother, but grew up with a more positive outlook on life despite living a similar fate as Saiyam.
In essence, they've got a lot of history and have every reason to not have been a couple but that's what makes them so interesting. Saiyam who never had anyone to give two shits about him suddenly finds that there's someone who cares about him, someone he too has grown to care for. Krishna, true to her upbringing, grows to see past Saiyam's father's name and gains a more realistic perspective of the world & people in his company. It's like they have everything going against them but they still somehow managed to be the halves that complete each other. Anyways, I hope you like this VM! And if you did, do watch the show! Love, Kriti
