  • duffy reply Really loved this animation! And your take on Astro is so cute. Great video and some really good points. Especially about independent animation. That's why we're working hard to build the best home for independent animators on the internet. And we're all about giving preference to quality over quantity. We want to break the cycle of clickbait culture!
  • alex reply Love this! Great points
  • KeiserHTTC reply Vidme could place adds on there part of the site as in a banner. Receive all the money then distribute it accross the most viewed ppl. The banner could appear below the video title and above the upvote button. More views more exposure to the advertising. Simple like a Youtube network dose - commission
  • [ – ] desertloner reply monetization got youtube in the mess in the first place
  • [ – ] Mackle reply did i just see my profile picture in this video ? oh my
  • moistfob reply This is a really good video. I appreciate this kind of quality
  • VanquishxTV reply I think you made some excellent points and had some awesome ideas in this video!
  • ThatMagnetMan reply I do think the business part of vidme is best for the company itself, having the people fund the content creators they like will ultimately be the best for the creators. Advertisers do create a split of power between what vidme wants and what it could do that makes rational sense from a business perspective, I think that they shouldn't try to get advertisers yet though. People look at vidme as a youtube without censorship and adding advertisers into the mix to early could make people lose faith that this site is any different from youtube.
  • NabibbleJr reply This video was terrible, you used Mac and Jim instead of my magnum opus, McBigBoyToon.
  • Saltydkdan reply Thanks for reminding me to set up a Vidme account lol Plus, awesome points!
  • [ – ] shamkoze reply how do you make your videos?
  • ComicToyReviews reply How about they do simple ads that are not in the way like youtube. Or that are required to watch.
  • [ – ] Dos_Gaming reply I want 1$ per a billion views!!! I need my moniez!
  • Watersurf reply Good video, I agree with mostly all of your points. As someone who was on YouTube since like, late 2007, it sucked seeing most of my favorite creators go elsewhere such as making quantity over quality or just overall disappearing in general. Luckily, some of the people I currently follow are starting to make the move over here. This website is a fresh start for everyone and everyone can make a new image for themselves over here. Let's hope advertisers can see that and not assume the worst because hey, these advertisers put their ads on worst stuff on tv and movies, why not smaller creators like us, especially if some if not most make friendly content.
  • mynx-v-marie reply Great video! You made some great points, with regards to advertising I think that it is needed. It's not about the ads but the types ads offered. They need to be compatible with the content i.e. If your a gaming channel you get gaming/ console ads etc. I think that would help.
  • danielthereviewer reply Another idea if vidme implements adverts is have the advertisers tag their advert like we do with videos so if they want an ad to appear on a gaming video, tag with the gaming tag
  • Skypizza reply Really solid ideas that Vidme could work with, and I love your laid-back animation style in this video as well.
  • Ms_K reply great video and tbh good points in this video.Enjoyed it...
  • tonygreene113 reply I guess time will tell if vidme goes to a model if your choice or their own concoction.
  • hypeGavin reply Yeah great points here!
  • ReadySetNo reply 1k views :O
  • [ – ] Mannykilla reply Need help someone help how to get verified
  • Markusooi reply Good Video and Good Ideas
  • Vexode reply This deserved an immediate follow. What a great video!
  • NeverHaveEnough reply New to vidme, so this is all intriguing to me!
  • NikiandGabi reply I really like your ideas on monetizing. You made some really interesting points. By the way the animation is awesome! Nicely done. :)
  • MysticSword reply Nice video with well thought-out and well spoken commentary and ideas. :)
  • WaRpt reply Loved some of your ideas. Also, the Persona music was a nice touch:)
  • wolfalexzemla reply I would not mind watching ads if they were not so dam obnoxious and also blast the sound. A semitransparent banner would be good.
  • Rayman327 reply I agree about the tag system since I do reactions myself. Some very good suggestions.
  • SurfersSelfies reply yes this is great, hopefully it keeps growing
  • Androo_NR_Gaming reply Awesome animations and fantastic ideas! ^_^
  • SimSonic reply I see you with the music from Persona 5.
  • JimGiant reply Advertisers ruin creative freedom, I think direct fan funding is the future.
  • thecrystaljoy reply All great ideas! It would be interesting to see how it played out if they managed to incorporate ads effectively.
  • Avernetty reply This a great explanation. Im new so this is great for starters!
  • [ – ] ProjectKillJoy reply VidMe is not as popular as YouTube, because it isn't as implemented in our culture. If vidme wants to overtake YouTube, they need to have exclusive creators, a television app, and a large userbase. Once VidMe starts to have videos hit 500,000 views on the reg, advertisers will come.
    • Jaxks parent reply True but if vidme had videos with more time put into them like animations people will start coming to this site over YouTube. As well as youtube does stuff only with big channels where vidme interacts with all types of channels
  • Vesperascit reply You definitely have some good ideas. One issue that will probably always come up is that advertisers may not agree with the videos their ads are being shown against, like what is happening on Youtube right now. Vidme would definitely need some way to filter out offensive videos from receiving ads or else they could end up in the same boat Youtube is in now. Great video overall though :)
  • The2ndChosenOne reply They could do a combination the amount of views and the upvote:view ratio, like if it has 1000 views and 500 upvotes it gets 50 moneys, maybe, possibly?
  • TaurusSilverDiamond reply Great points, I can see these bring the website farther in the long run. However the Ads im not sure, what TV is trying to do is use ads to ruin social medias and people can be watching TV again. i dont trust it in my opinion.
  • CuneiformHub reply No one wants to make videos for free? What happened to 2008...
  • [ – ] MemeSage reply My Response to the title. PLEASE GOD NO! NO! PLEASE NO! bringing advertisers would mean bringing all the BS from youtube onto vid.me. Meaning, False copryright claims, law suits, Networks, Killed Animators, Devas, It's all CANCER.
    • [ – ] Jaxks parent reply Killed Animators?
      • MemeSage parent reply Btw, This statment might help. "Remember StickPage.com?" Yeah..
      • [ – ] MemeSage parent reply yeah, when the whole monitization thing happened on youtube, the relevance of animators died, do to them not being able to make longer videos to implement more ads + watch time. Meaning they get paid less for ALOT of work, and the people who get paid more for less work, can pump out more videos, get more money, and over shadow the animators, animators then quit, or move on to something else. I've heard this story told all around youtube, I even started out with animations, then realized this reality, and switched up. Now that I'm on vid.me, I see SUCH a rise of animators, AND they get supported in the way they normally are supported, through subscriptions / donations (Like patreon). I could go on and on in more detail, but this comment is getting too long already.
        • [ – ] Jaxks parent reply And if the animators are dead, what's to lose?
          • [ – ] MemeSage parent reply That's the thing, Vid.Me Brought Animators back to life! also, If it was based on view count, and a set view count, and not number of ads you can squeeze into a video (which i doubt would last long on vid.me, just like on youtube before they changed the ad system, which was exactly like that), then it could maybe work. but there still comes the problems like, bringing the Ellen show on here. and day time TV showing up on the front page everyday. And why would that happen? Because A. people like Ellen, so no matter what, she will always bee first page, and B. because now that there are Ads, Ellen has another way to get paid.
            • Jaxks parent reply I don't think they have brought them back to life just yet. Well I have trust that vidme knows not to favour some channels over others and shows like Ellen show can exist on the platform just not become as promoted at they are on YouTube.
        • Jaxks parent reply Well I talk about that in the video but that was because it was based off minutes watched but if the ads went back to per views on a video it could be good for animators again. to be honest I wasn't there for that time of monetization to know how much animators made but it must of been enough to live?
  • blxckbird reply question: is there not a system to change the watchtime ranking from the total number of minutes watched to the total percentage of the video watched? so, if a 10 minute video is watched for 4 minutes, and a 3 minute video is watched fully, then the 3 minute video would have a higher ranking? i mean i'm sure a system like that wouldn't be perfect either, like how a 3 minute video will have a higher chance of being watched completely because of its length, while the 10 minute video isn't necessarily worse in quality, but idk it might be worth looking into...
  • [ – ] SweetDaddyBrown reply I know this is the least important part of the video but what was song you used for it? Really digged it, sounds like something out of a Persona game.
