Here is the music video for the recent Chinese single of “Beauty and the Beast” (美女與野獸) released on February 22, 2017, to promote the release of the live-action remake of “Beauty and the Beast.” The single, released in February 2017 in China (as far as I can find), features performances by Chinese singers Hebe Tien (田馥甄) and Jing Boran (井柏然). Composed by Alan Menken, with lyrics by Keith Chan Siu-kei (陳少琪), the single was produced by Sui-kei and arranger Rare Yu (于京延), while the music video was directed by Bill Chia (Bounce) (比爾賈). While the original music video features Chinese subtitles for the lyrics, English subtitles have also been added for Disney Ashman Demos by Joss Hoskinson, using an English translation of the lyrics by Reddit user Moricrosis. With their translation, Moricrosis noted that the lyrics aren’t a translation of the original English lyrics by Howard Ashman, but completely original lyrics, and that each line of the Chinese lyrics contain five characters (a feature found in many Classical Chinese poems) and is either a complete rhyme or a partial rhyme, always ending with a “-ng” sound (-ong, -eng, -iang, -uang, -eng). “Lyrics in Chinese are often pretty poetic, so hopefully I’ve managed to do them some justice v_v” The only alteration made to the translation is the replacement of the British English “honour” with the American English “honor” in order to maintain consistency with the rest of the videos produced for Disney Ashman Demos
