  • [ – ] AmandaFood reply Hm no I don't think it's ok for them to upload it to their channel, that's not sharing it. Hopefully, it gets sorted out soon since you contacted vid.me already.
    • Cl0mar parent reply I logged out and went to their channel and they actually did delete my video, but I hope for everyone else's sake it still gets looked into because they still have other videos that aren't theirs uploaded.
  • [ – ] JessicaMartwin reply What?! That's crazy. That's not the point of downloading videos. I can't believe he did that. That's just ridiculous. Yes! You did a great job explaining the point of downloading videos. Good idea disabling the button. For now that's a good idea, I think. Wow. That's crazy that he did that to you. He seems really rude 😡. Thanks for sharing.
    • [ – ] Cl0mar parent reply Thank you for watching! I just wanted to make other people aware that this was happening. After thinking about it I'm pretty sure they didn't even download it first, I think they took the url from the video and uploaded it that way. I completely forgot it was even possible to upload a video from a url.
      • JessicaMartwin parent reply Oh I see. That's still terrible. I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else. I'm sure the vidme team will be able to deal with it in a proper manner. They seem to be on top of most things. I still feel bad that you had to go through this.
  • [ – ] Hoshi-Hana reply It's him who is in the wrong. The sharing function is for the social media or embedding on websites where the credit will be part of it automatically. It does not include uploading full videos to the channel. However the problem is not the download button. He could have taken the video url from the browser url address line and uploaded it still. It's simply way too easy.
    • [ – ] Cl0mar parent reply I wasn't even thinking of that when I made the video, I'm pretty sure that's what the person did, just took the url and uploaded it using that :/
  • [ – ] theoldsparrow reply That is not what the download content is for. Proper use would be for responding to at length, it pains me to say it because I don't like this type of video but point by point rebuttal, and for an entertaining remix basically creating a video from scratch using another video as a base. Reuploading a video wholesale to your channel is very different from sharing it. It is a parasitic, lazy way to get content on their channel without having to do the work of the basics of creating a video. You have every right to fight this.
    • Cl0mar parent reply That's exactly what I thought the download content was for, I'm glad I'm not mistaken! Thank you so much for the tip!
  • [ – ] RandomShyte reply it is a copyright problem, but.... if something can be downloaded it makes it too ez to do what ever a person wants. sorry you had this happen
    • Cl0mar parent reply Videos being able to be downloaded definitely makes it easier for people to do whatever they want with the video. I guess I just never really thought that something like this would happen to me, and I want people to be aware that it does happen!
  • [ – ] Flying_Purple_Pizzas reply Not cool! Was the video taken down that you know of? It's pretty obvious that they shouldn't take what's not theirs without asking. Very rude. Thanks for letting us know!
    • Cl0mar parent reply They took my video down but still have other peoples videos uploaded. Vidme says they're looking into it, so hopefully they can take care of it!
  • [ – ] JustABloke reply I agree with nearly everything you said, and yes in my opinion you should've been approached to say they want to use the whole video, it's basic common courtesy. Why I said nearly, is that nothing is foolproof, whether you're protected legally through whatever license you use, it's going to be copied/hacked you name it, once on the net it's fair game. I am aware of it, and like you, I allow my content to be downloaded because if someone wants it, they will get it by any means, and watermarks won't bother them. Don't blame yourself for making great content others want to use, and I love your content. Keep smiling Cl0mar, cause that's the person you are.
    • Cl0mar parent reply You're exactly right. Whenever you post something on the internet you're taking a risk. I was aware that this could happen but I think I was just more in shock because I didn't think it would ever happen to me lol. Thank you so much for your kind words!
  • [ – ] techmespot reply That's terrible feeling when u don't want
    • [ – ] Cl0mar parent reply I'm just hoping other people are aware that it can happen to them too! Sad thing is there's really nothing we can do to even prevent it from happening.
  • [ – ] InternetUnwind reply yeah this happened to me on youtube, I couldn't do anything about it there unfortunately. I am pretty sure they legally aren't actually allowed to do that.
    • Cl0mar parent reply Yeah I'm pretty sure it's illegal. Sorry this happened to you on youtube, I'm hoping the vidme team is able to take care of people that upload other people's videos on here
  • [ – ] GoMGTOW reply We MGTOW are having the same problem with MGTOW Central... This scum has been ostracized from the community and his name cast upon the wall of shame.
    • [ – ] Cl0mar parent reply I'm sorry to hear you're having the same problem! I wish something could be done to prevent people from stealing other channels content, but it seems inevitable.
      • GoMGTOW parent reply Oh I'm not done with his ass yet... I did a Catfish video on him. The community will take it from there. The best thing you can do is expose these assholes so the next schmuck who goes to your channel can see what happens when they rip off your content!
  • [ – ] tonygreene113 reply Sorry for the pain you're experiencing...
    • Cl0mar parent reply Thank you, I just really wanted to get this out there to let people know that this could potentially happen to them too!
