Sonnets are tough to write. They're a challenge of balancing emotion, intellect, aesthetics, and control. That's why I love 'em. This one I think is a failure, but I think it's a damn great failure.
This was shot practically all over Eastern New England in the winter of 2015-16, though the early shot of Boott Mills in Lowell is from February 2015, when I wrote the poem. Other scenes are from Dover, NH, Newmarket, NH, Barrington, NH, and Portland, ME. This is when you could do a lot of cool stuff on Windows Live Movie Maker. This is also JUST before I learned about video stabilization, lmao.
This one's from my first book, the e-book "The Long Contraction", available here: https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/680921.
If you like that book, please consider purchasing it. I also have my first print collection, "Shaking the Wind", coming out and currently available for preorder: https://www.finishinglinepress.com/product/shaking-the-wind-by-matt-stefon/.
